+Scott306
I recently aquired a Magellan Triton 300. I like it so far except for the lack of detail of the map. the base map is the general shape of North America if you zoom out far enough but when zoomed in to a specific province all I get is a cursor in a gray field. All the detailed maps available from Magellan are of the states. My questions are: Does/Did anyone else have this problem? Where can I get Detailed maps of canada? Even the Canadian maps Magellan sells come on SD cards and the 300 reciever doesn't have a card slot. Any help or advice would be apreciated. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+entogeek
Check out http://www.tritonforum.com/downloads.html. There you will find a tutorial on making custom Raster maps that you can pop into Vantage Point and then transfer to your Triton. If the tutorial is a bit confusing, send me a PM and I'll walk you through the process. Quote Link to comment
+Scott306
Thanks, I found the document. It sounds rather straight forward, in the meantime I found a site that had maps that someone has already made for my area. They aren't as high quality the supplied maps on my other reciever (a TomTom) but at least I have some topo detail now, and they are surprisingly accurate matching specific coordinates. thanks again. +The_Fab_Four
Hi, I was looking into making maps for my triton 200 but the smallest i can get them with the info above in 24mb. Would either of you be able to help me get them smaller?? Any help would be great. Thanks Quote Link to comment

Would either of you be able to help me get them smaller?? Any help would be great. Thanks Can you start with a smaller raster map? Say, divide your current map coverage into 4 parts. Each part will only be about 6 mb, which should fit into the internal memory. If your map data source is google map or equivalent, you can download a map with a lower level number. Typically, the size of the map reduces by a factor of 4 for each reduction in level. Yet, another possibility is to make a vector map (i.e. a .imi map). For the same map size, a vector map covers much more area. However, making a vector map is much more complicated than making a raster map. Quote Link to comment

I have an explorist 500, and just acquired a Triton 1500 (I have an extra one I'm selling if you're interested...brand new...huh? huh? lol). My housemate just purchased a Triton 300 2 days ago. We're both quite computer savvy, and there should be a way of getting the MapSend Topo maps to work with Vantage Point, at which point you could load them to the Triton 300. Unclear yet if it works, but it looks promising (from what he's told me anyway). If it works, I'll post my findings here. I know the MapSend Topo Canada map is a bit old now, but its better than nothing. Quote Link to comment
+classiccanadianblizz
HI ... I have the triton 400 and downloaded (Ok my wife did the download for me) , the western canada map from magellan and I love it. Very detailed, but a little out dated as far as I can tell about 3 years behind. Quote Link to comment
SurvivorStore
Hello, I know that this post is ancient. But does anyone by some pore chance has Triton RMP Maker program? The original download link went down across time and I REALLY need this program. If you have it somewhere please help me out by sending it to me via wetransfer or whatever other means. Regards, Jonh. +cwhlam
Maybe you can try OpenStreetMap with RMP creator. I use OpenStreetMap on a Garmin with good results. It may work well with the Triton too. Let us know how it works. Quote Link to comment
