+apetro
why wouldn't a hider put the cache size on their listing, is it just to make the difficulty rating higher, or is there another reason? thanks! Quote Link to comment
+TrailGators
why wouldn't a hider put the cache size on their listing, is it just to make the difficulty rating higher, or is there another reason? thanks! Some caches can be unusual. For example, a log on the back of of flat magnet. I've seen a few of these and the standard container types would not work for this type. Quote Link to comment
jholly
why wouldn't a hider put the cache size on their listing, is it just to make the difficulty rating higher, or is there another reason? thanks! Probably because it is a nano and they think they are being clever. Jim Quote Link to comment
sdarken
The reasons I know of: - it's something unique (like the magnet cache mentioned above) that doesn't really fit a category - the owner forgot to make a selection (I did this once) - the cache owner is trying to make things more difficult since you dont know what you're looking for. +The Chessy Chumps
As stated above, it is often due to the fact that the cache is a nano. There doesn't seem to be an option for a nano in the list (smallest being a micro). When I've reported a new nano cache, I've chosen 'other' from the dropdown menu and made a note in the cache description to say that it is a nano Phil The Chessy Chumps Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Some reasons: 1. It's a mystery cache and the container is part of the mystery 2. The owner simply forgot to select the size 3. It's an object that really isn't a traditional container. Like a magnetic sign with a logbook taped to the back. 4. Its a nano or micro and because some geocachers dislike them and filter them out, it's a way to fooll them into looking for it Quote Link to comment
+mfamilee
The most recent cache we listed we declined to list the size because we consider it a unique hide - not a container that falls under one of the specific categories. And it's NOT a nano! Quote Link to comment
+wkmccall
why wouldn't a hider put the cache size on their listing, is it just to make the difficulty rating higher, or is there another reason? thanks! I've found that it's usually due to the cache container being a micro because some cachers will filter out micros. I've also seen it where the cache size will give away the cache too easily. I have left off the size once - by mistake - and then went back to put it back in and I'll usually say it's a nano in the description. Edited February 28, 2009 by wkmccall Quote Link to comment
