+dukeofurl01
I was having coffee a few days ago with a Muggle friend of mine, and he noticed the magnetic TB on my car in the parking lot, and he said something like "dude, is that a scarab made out of a barcode?" and I said "yeah, I guess it is." I explained what it really meant, and how really the only important part was the number written below it. But that got me to thinking; what is the significance of the symbol, what does it really mean? Where did it come from? Who/How was it invented? Anyone know? Quote Link to comment
+Eartha
It's a bug. And it's made to travel. The bar code gives it a techie look, I don't think there is any hidden meaning there, but I'll ask Groundspeak who designed it for you. Quote Link to comment
+Eartha
Groundspeak tells me that Jeremy thought of the name "Travel Bug". He also thought of the digital design that became the trademark. And the reason for it is "It looks cool." Which is exactly what I thought. There is no hidden meaning behind it. A scarab is a bug (beetle), which is probably why your friend was reminded of such a thing. Quote Link to comment

+Castle Mischief
But it only has four legs. For some reason this has always bothered me. To paraphrase another cacher, it's like some unseen occult hand reached down and plucked the third pair of legs right off! Quote Link to comment
