tulsawalk
Greetings, I'm new as far as number of caches, and am one of those who have set caches while still a real newbie but I got good reviews on both their first day out today. Anyway, I was wondering what is correct protocol when cashing with a friend or a group when it comes to logging. Does everyone log the cache or the person who actually "saw" it first? +DiamondDaveG
As far as our group, everyone finds it & everyone signs it. Usually the person that spots it first signs it first but not always. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
The general thought is that you are hunting as a part of a team and every member of the team gets to log the find regardless of who actually found it. Otherwise you'd get people tackling their teammates so as to beat them to an obvious hiding place. What some groups do is that as each person discovers the cache, he walks away then announces he found it. That way each person can get to actually uncover the cache. This works with small groups but is kind of impractical with larger groups. With other groups someone finds it, announces the find and everyone gathers around to sign. Either method is considered by most geocachers to be acceptable. Edited February 16, 2009 by briansnat Quote Link to comment
+Cornell Finch
Just a quick note to say thanks for the clarification, it's something I'd been wondering too as I'm going out with a couple of other cachers during the week. Will have to discuss which preference they have for finding and logging. Collin Quote Link to comment
+loge18
I love screaming "FOUND IT" and having everyone gather around! My friends would be way too cut throat if we tried any other method! Quote Link to comment
