+HazelS
Bit of a long shot this one... My parents will both be 60 next month, and are off on a big posh holiday to celebrate. They're off cruising again, and as ever, I have to do their cache planning for them! Now, Australia, Nagasaki, Hong Kong and China, I'm fine with, but I can't find out where in Guam they wull be docked. They won't have access to a car, and are not in port for very long, and so just want a quick cache and grab near the port... There's loads of caches on the island with there being a large American Airbase, but I can't find out where on the Island they will dock! I've tried Google earth to see if there's any likely looking jetties etc, but no.... nowt.... Anyone any ideas??? If it helps, they will be on the Arcadia! Quote Link to comment
+keehotee
Does it definitely dock? Occasionally they'll just anchor, and ferry people ashore on the jolly boats Edited to add: jolly boat = a boat used to ferry people to and from a ship when they're off on a jolly - and not a really REALLY happy boat !!!! +HazelS
Ha ha ha - yeah - lots of them do that, but I need to know whereabouts on the island they will land!!! Pointless me telling them to do caches on the E of the island if they dock on the W and vice versa.... they're not paperless and need me to say "ok - Guam you get off the boat and do x cache, then y cache, then z cache..... so - anyone any ideas where they will dock? +Write and Mane
Where will they dock:- Apro Harbor looks as if it might be the right area to start searching for nearby caches. Found a couple of links: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/apra.htm http://www.worldportsource.com/ports/GUM.php http://www.guam-online.com/maps/maps.htm Hope this helps. Further search reveals Guam Cachers Home page http://guamgeocachers.com/index.php?title=Main_Page Plus link to ALL Guam Cachers who should be able to provide some advice http://guamgeocachers.com/index.php?title=Local_cachers Edited January 26, 2009 by Write and Mane Quote Link to comment

+HazelS
Ta folks... I had a good hunt around and I contacted a local cacher who is going to arrange for someone from teh Guam caching community to meet them from the ship and take them caching... Don't you just love cachers!!! Thanks guys! Quote Link to comment
