ZeMartelo
I have a nuvi that allows me to download using GSAK all the cache info, including description, logs, hints etc. Is it possible to do the same with the Vista or it is like the favourites where only the cache code is shown? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
hirshfam
Only the cache code, name and coordinates are available. Logs, hints, etc are not available on the Vista HCX that I am aware of. Quote Link to comment
+Chuy!
I've seen that thead that explains how to use you Nuvi as a PDA, but, unfortunately, the handheld units do not support that type of customization. For the handhelds, you can download any 30 charaters in the hint field of each waypoint using Easy GPS, MapSource, GSAK, etc... GSAK allows a slew of additional customization such as adding coords, previous finders, cache size; difficulty/terrain ratings, etc... With customized POIs, the title character limit is stretched to 44 characters, and the hint/comment field to 88. Quote Link to comment
ZeMartelo
Thanks. Is it the same for the Venture HCX? Is there a limit for custom POI's? I am thinking of getting the Venture HCx, does it have the same limitation as far character limit is concerned and the number of custom POI's? Quote Link to comment
+Corey
I store ~2000 caches as POIs on my Vista HCx's Micro-SD card. The number of POIs is only limited by space on the card (and POIs take up very little space). The Venture HCx doesn't have a MicroSD card slot and thus has no Custom POI ability. +cliptwings
Actually, you CAN put hints on your Garmin HC with GSAK, although they are limited to a certain number of characters. GSAK allows you to abbreviate the type, size, hints, and last 4 finds and adds it to the info that you transfer to your GPSr. It is then displayed on your bearing/course arrow window. If you need details, let me know. Quote Link to comment
ZeMartelo
You are right. I was thinking of the Legend HCx. Quote Link to comment
