The family and I are saving our pennies so we can get a GPS unit, the Garmin Colorado actually but we have found 11 out of 12 caches printing the pages and maps. Be careful with the maps though, google maps sent us to the wrong place but since I printed the page with pictures of the site we figured out which exit was the "correct" exit and found the cache, actually the wife found it as I had walked right past it. Use maps just to find the general location, use the clues to find the item.

Thanks for the advice i kow this might sound stupid but what maps when i use the google map it only shows about where the goechaces are but not up close. Also how do i get the clues do i click on people that found them and see what they say besides the little hints you get with about where it is? Wow you and your family are really doing well without a gps (dont know if i would have th patience lol) congrats.

The logs usually contain clues, whether intentional or not who knows. Some have an encypted clue as well. The key to the encrption is usually on the right side of the screen opposite the encoded clue. Also, in my local area it seems that if there is a cemetery then there is almost always a cache in it.

To further answer your question - I open the Cache information page, click on the title such as #14 on the Critter Trail (GC1DM6F) then I go to my printer button on the windows tool bar and hit print preview and print if it looks like it is going to print out correctly. Then I scroll down and click on "Driving Directions" that is located in the boxed titled "PRINT:" After that pops up you enter your starting location and the caches' location should already be in the destination box. Once you have your start location loaded look at the upper right corner of the map box and you will see hyper links for print, send and link, mine are purple/blueish color. click on print. Another window will pop up with our directions. Depending on how much information you want you can do text or text with map directions, I use either but prefer the text with maps. I also click the check box for include large map. If you choose to include the large map make sure it is zoomed in/out correctly to be usefull, sometimes the default zoom is useless and you end up with a small section of the route that gives you no references. Once you have the maps you want click on the large white print button in the upper right corner of the map window. Then fill up the car and have fun.

Please email me directly if you want more help or if I confused you, I tend to include way too much of the wrong info... ;)

In most of the places I cache here on the east coast the google maps supplied on the page will take you right to the cache if you go to interactive map set, then the satellite image, then click the plus sign once to get a better view. Almost every time I have a problem with the map, others using a GPS are having the same problem. However in some parts of the country I've seen Google maps terribly out of focus, or taken over cloud cover, or out of registration so that it is tough to determine which layer, if either, is accurate. One problem is that the scale does not print on the aerial image so you will need to make some sort of scale measuring device to accurately calculate distances. Other than that go for them. I've yet to use a GPS to find a cache.
