StumpWater
Apologies if this has been covered, but how do I find other users/profiles now? ... there used to be a search feature on the front page. Maybe there still is, but I can't seem to find it. Hep me, hep me, hep me. Thanks, StumpWater Link to comment
the hermit crabs
There are at least two places: (1)On your "My Account" page, on the right-hand side, in the "Account Options" section, there is a "Find another player" link (2)On the Quick Links page, fill in the "Username" box and click the "Profile" button. +StumpWater
The Find Another Player thing was the first place I looked. But that goes straight to sending an email to the user (with not a profile link in sight). But the Quick Links thing solves it. Thanks! StumpWater Link to comment
Corey
(with not a profile link in sight) Yes, it says "Contacting: Jeremy [view profile]" or something similar, with a link... Link to comment
trainlove
And since you know the name, you can go to a search page and do "caches hidden by cacherx" or "caches found by cachery". I think you have to spell their name exactly in that spot though unlike in the other 2 locations where it will give you the option to select from similar names. If said cachers ever logged into the forums you can see their name using the Members link at the top of the forum pages. Link to comment
Corey
You can also manually create the URL. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Jeremy works. Link to comment
trainlove
You can also manually create the URL. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Jeremy works. But if a username has spaces or other special characters in it then you must make the URL look something like ="http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=The%20Schnoolies" target="_blank">The Schnoolies</a> or ="http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=the%20"dinosowers"" target="_blank">the "dinosowers"</a> The useable part of the URL must use HTML entities, but the visual part displayed can use those characters directly. And of course in these cases you have to know how to spell their name. Link to comment
StumpWater
Well, could I be more blind?! I didn't see the "view profile" link. Link to comment
trainlove
Well, could I be more blind?! I didn't see the "view profile" link. WOW, you are absolutely correct. The link to view their profile is another casualty of the 'upgrades' that occurred about a week ago. Every one of the names on my page http://ray.jerome.jobs.googlepages.com/GeoCachersMet does not allow one to see their profile. Someone should add this problem to the release notes 15 page thread. +trainlove
WOW By now everyone has noticed that I was being quite contrary here. That's exactly the 'profile' that one wants to go to for any user and those URL's are exactly correct. If you mean something else, then you must be thinking that others can EDIT your profile or so on... P.S. 24+ hours is when one can't edit ones own post. +wandering4cache
The EASIEST method is to google the username. If its common name, google the name followed by the word geocaching. Heck, I even google GC#s of caches. No messing around website trying to find search. I use google for EVERYTHING. Link to comment
