+The Sandpipers Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 hi Just checking if it is acceptable / caching etiquette to go back to a cache where I left someone else's travel bug and geocoin and retrieve them again because the cache I placed it in hasn't been visited for ages ??? I left a geocoin that we found in a well visited cache in another cache because the name was appropriate to the coin's mission however I have noticed that it hasnt been retrieved for about 6 weeks so I would like to move this geocoin on quickly now for the owner but want to make sure it is correct and proper to do so. Also if it is correct to do so.... how would I log it..as a note or as a find ???? Also similarly, is it acceptable to revisit a cache that we had already found and leave the coin in there because I know that particular cache being fairly new is being visited all the time and by doing so we can quicken it's departure ? Again if it is acceptable how would I log it ?? Many thanks Quote
+*mouse* Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) Yes - if it was my coin/TB was stuck in a cache going nowhere, I would be very grateful if someone moved it on for me, but why not email the owner and see what they would prefer? Six weeks isn't very long for a TB not to move so you could always wait a while and see what happens. You don't need to write another log to pick up a bug from that cache on that cache page, just enter the TB's tracking number into the trackable page on GC.com and grab it from there. Edited to add: Yes to your other questions also. If you have already visited a cache you want to drop a TB into then just post a 'Write Note' log instead of a 'Found' log in exactly the same way to drop off the bug. Many thanks I'd have thought so - most people who put out coins and bugs want to see them moving, and although the coin/bug is no longer acting as a draw to the cache, a) it confirms the cache is still there and it clearly wasn't working as a draw anyway if no one visits. I'd log it as a note - that way find figures aren't artifically inflated. Quote
+Delta68 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 TB19AF5 by any chance? Personally I wouldn't worry about it if I'd placed the TB or if I was the owner TBs can spend ageeeeeeeeees in Multis and Puzzles It's just the luck of the draw If the TB owner is keen to get it moved, they can always ask the cache owner to move it on... M Thanks for the prompt replies - now I know that you don't think 6 or so weeks was a long time then that's really all I needed to know. Yes that was the TB I was referring to. The geocoin however I might just email the owner and ask them what they would like me to do . Thanks for your help Quote
