Recommended Posts

Hello all. First post here. I have sat here for days and read 1.5 million posts on going paperless and my mind is fried.

I need help on going paperless with my M500.

Can i download the page(s) on Geocaching to my M500?

Where do i start?

What do i download?

I have a premium membership on Geocaching.com

My computer skills are about a 3.5 out of 10 so take it easy on me-LOL

Thanks in advance for your help.

Brian.

Yes, you can use a program like GSAK to turn your PQ into something that your Palm understands. I think the Palm requires you to export the data to the Palm as a PDB file.

What I do is convert the GPX file to Docbook format so I can read it with the palm ebook reader. (I am a linux user so the programs I use are different but I am pretty sure that GSAK will do the conversion.) Makes it easy to find a cache using the search function on the ebook reader. I usually just plug in the GC number and it finds it. I use a plain old text file to log my caches or keep any notes on the palm. Hope this works for you. Good luck and have fun!

Hi, I've been recently researching paperless too, and was totally confused!

This is the concensus of the replies I got, haven't tried it yet:

Download GSAK to your computer, and Cachemate to your Palm. Get Pocket Queries from the geocaching site. That's everything needed! These are supposed to be very easy to use.

I haven't bought a Palm yet, but am researching that. Hope this info helps you; please post how it goes. I need to know, too! B&F

If this is wrong, someone please say so now!! Thanks--

Welcome to the Forums! ;)

I have been using a Palm m500 for caching and it works very well. I chose to get Cachemate for it. I downloaded it and registered it for the minimal fee of $8.00.

I Export the data in the correct .pdb format from GSAK.

Because I have had the Palm for quite a while, it has several programs on it. To hold more data, I got a 256 MB card for it and I put the caches on that card. I have thousands of caches in different databases in Cachemate.
