kozisyn
Hi, I know the difference between Vista HCX and GPS 60CSX except the biggest issue - how they work in deep canyons, clouds or tree cover? cheers for advice Michael Quote Link to comment
freeday
Vista HCX has problems http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=186593 GPS 60CSX has NO PROBLEMS ! i have both - with the current firmware the 60CSX is the better choice under tree cover Quote Link to comment
gallet
Meh. My experience with both units is that they are for all practical purposes the same with regards to reception, but the HCx has the edge, albeit minimal. Quote Link to comment
+butrflybec
I also have both, and have much better reception with the 60. The Vista takes a while to realize you have changed direction, and can be frustrating when you are close to a cache and it's pointing you in the wrong direction. But the 60 is usually very responsive to changes in direction. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
I have had no problems with my Vista HCx. It has never lost a signal. For hiking, I much prefer its size to the larger 60CSx. Quote Link to comment
highrolla7
I lost reception with my Vista HCX for about 4 minutes driving through Yosemite Park in California. Have never lost a signal other than this one time. Quote Link to comment
GeoBobC
My experience is side-by-side comparison of the HCx and the 60Cx on trails in the Pacific Northwest with heavy tree canopy. While both units display similar EPE, the 60Cx has been clearly superior based on the tracks recorded. The HCx tracks tend to wander much more than the 60Cx. While this may not be indicative of a unit's ability to navigate to a waypoint, it was enough to convince me of the 60Cx being more sensitive in heavy tree canopy. Quote Link to comment
