lihen
Hi I am new to all this so I hope that some of you will be able to help me with the following.... I have a eTrex Venture HC GPS, and with that followed the "Trip and Waypoint manager" program on a cd. I have no problems transferring waypoints from the danish internet site (geocaching.dk) to the GPS, however if I want to tranfer waypoints from geocaching.com nothing happens (have tried both through the site directly AND also through Google earth). I choose the .LOC file. Does anybody have problems in transferring waypoints from geocaching.com ? SIncerely lihen Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
I would recomend saving the .LOC files and then using a program like EasyGPS to transfer them to your unit. Make certain you have installed the USB drivers from Garmin. Better yet - become a premium member and then you make use of Pocket Queries to grab up to 500 caches that you are interested in and trasfer the points to your unit via either EasyGPS or Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK). Here is a tutorial on PQs: http://www.markwell.us/pq.htm Quote Link to comment

The Trip & Waypoint Manager can open LOC files. Just use it to upload the waypoints to your GPS. Quote Link to comment
lihen
Prime suspect ....but.... ...it dosent work for caches outside Denmark...... lihen Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
Are you looking for the caches on your GPS by "Nearest?" If you search by "Name" they are probably in the GPSr since by "Nearest" only shows the first 50 caches closest to your location. Quote Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
Prime suspect ....but.... ...it dosent work for caches outside Denmark...... lihen lihen ....but ...yes it does...... GPX data is GPX data. Neither the software nor the hardware cares what country a cache is in. Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
Also the GPS will only show waypoints less than 177KM away. Try doing a search by name to see if the caches show up. Quote Link to comment
lihen
Hi Thanks for all of your advice....conclusion is: The GPS dosent care which country the cache is in (sorry Prime Suspect ) If I search by name they are all there YEAH...... ...and I am not embarresed - just glad that that the answer to my question - that somebody else must have asked themselves - now is available here lihen Quote Link to comment
