+BVnLJ Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Does anyone know if the Rangefinder Geocoin actually works? I'm going to have to get one if it does Quote
+slowdownracer Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 It's only good for an estimate, not real accuracy. And the accuracy decreases if there are hills around you, must have flat terrain to the horizon for the best results. Must be held 12 inches from your eye, but I try not to put a tape measure up to my face when I use it. Your height probably has something to do with it too. Otherwise it is a neat idea, the mathematics are correct and therefore it is functional, to a degree. It just looks nice, and is one of the few geocoins that has a useful purpose. Buy one and enjoy it. Quote
+Droo Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I love the concept behind it.... very educational. But the best rangefinder is still your gps. Quote
+GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 As Lewis (Lewis and Clark)would say your best bet is dead reckoning. He was only off 8 miles in that whole journey. ut that is with modern day technology measuring. Maybe the River Changed courses in that 200 years????? DEAD RECKONING Quote
