kraushad
Okay, 1. Get a GPSr - check 2. Buy cheap Palm online to paperless cache - check 3. Become a premium member - check 4. Figure out all the software to load things into the GPSr and the Palm using GPX files, Cachemate, GSAK, and Garmin Communicator - check One question - When you are paperless caching, is there any (relatively easy) way to get the map picture from the cache page into the Palm for the cache location? I am guessing not, but just thought I'd ask. So far two days of looking and I am 11/11 - WOO-HOO! Edited January 4, 2008 by kraushad Quote Link to comment
StarBrand
There are no images directly in the GPX file. I believe there are some 3rd party apps to grab the map images but I would not describe them as easy. Quote Link to comment
kraushad
Cool enough thanks. I don't really need them, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on an easy feature. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
briansnat
A mapping unit would eliminate the need for the cache page map. Quote Link to comment
Cedar Grove Seekers
Your #1 should have read "Get a mapping GPSr - check". Not sure which type you got, but many of the more advanced ones have mapping capabilities. Otherwise you seem pretty well equiped. We did our first 500+ caches with a Garmin yellow, and a lot of paper. Happy to be completely paperless now. Quote Link to comment
kraushad
Define Mapping GPSr - I have the Vista HCX. I just haven't gotten mapping software for it yet. Is that what you mean? Edited January 4, 2008 by kraushad Quote Link to comment
