+jpamusher
Hi, I currently have a Garmin GPS map76s unit. It works just fine, but with even moderate tree cover it takes a long time to acquire satellites. Just wondering if anybody has a reccomendation for a GPS unit that acquires satellites fast even with tree cover? Quote Link to comment
+Chuy!
Garmin-wise, the 60's with the SirF chip, or any of the Etrex units with an "H" suffix. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
The updated version of your 76S, the 76CSX and 76CX, as well 60CSX and 60CX. Also, as Chuy! mentioned, the Garmin eTrex units with the H in the name. eTrex H, Venture HC, Legend HCX and Vista HCX. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
I like the Legend HCX myself but get the Vista "h" if you like compass and altimeter. Quote Link to comment
+Night Stalker
I currently use the 60CX and it works much better under tree cover than my older 60CS. I made the mistake of trying to save a little money by not purchasing the 60CSX. The built in electronic compass makes it much more stable when I am walking slowly toward a cache. The pointer on my 60CX bounces around quite a bit when I am walking slowly and can lead me astray. Quote Link to comment
+Kayak194
I have to agree, I'm using the Legend HCx for caching and motorcycle riding and I love it. Quote Link to comment
+MaplessInSeattle
I use the 76CSx. I get poor reception in the back bedroom, but the other rooms are pretty good. Oh, and trees don't seem to present much of a problem if I had a good signal before going into them. Quote Link to comment

From my experience the Geocaching community is about 65 percent Garmin, 30 percent Magellan, 4 percent Lowrance and a there are very few users of other brands. I'm not saying you won't find a Delorme user here but you may have to wait for quite a while. Quote Link to comment
