OK, I don't mean to sound stupid, but when I go to the "home page" (I'm assuming this is http://www.geocaching.com) there is no "My Account" button that I can see. I tried the "My Profile" button, but once I click that, I see my stats but I don't see any "Update Profile" button. Am I crazy here, or do these instructions need updated? Can someone help me please?

You are not alone... I did a thread on the getting started thing... I've just about found all the NEW pages and routes... you were on the correct path though... This is part of the notes I've been working on...

------

Log on to geocaching.com .

Options... 1

Where it says Hello ?cachername? (upper right corner) .

IF you are on your own profile...

This is your Logs page, the one with your caches / bugs /benchmark logs etc. this is the Quick View page.

In that upper right box, you can use My Public Profile to get to the one everyone can see.

On yours you have link to Edit your profile... which takes you to your My Account Details page. The NEW one.

Down the left colum, to My Avatar and Photo box. If you have an avatar now, it will show there.

If not, chose Change. This takes you to the Choose my Avatar page. It will show your current (if any) avatar, as well as any images you have uploaded for that purpose. Clicking an image in the Choose a NEW Avatar moves that to the current selection (appears to).

This is a confusing point... It may be done by now if you had images there... and using re-register the changes will complete things since it seems to log you out and you have no choice but to log back on completing the avatar update. I have not yet tried that approach... I think it is what they want to do...

IF you are starting out, and have not yet any images use the upload a new image link...

Which takes you to the User Image Upload page. Choose your image (best 75x75) for avatar.

Use upload to load the image to Geocaching.com. Read the notes...

-----

It's not finished, sorry, but it will get you to where you need to be IF you read the pages... it is intended that the changes will be intuitive... but the fact is they need to tell you a few details... like after uploading the avatar image on the new stuff, you need to use the browser back button and refresh the page to find the uploaded images... hope that helps... the guys on the other thread found some of it worked and the above is better... take your time and read whats there, and follow the links...

Also watch out for adding pictures to forum postings... it also has glitches in the interface... but does work..

I just got mine to go a bit ago...

Doug
