+bikinibottomfeeders
Hello All, I normally would not post something like this but I wanted to clarify some mis-information by someone about my geocoin. The person said that there must have been over two hundred of my gold version made which is incorrect. The numbering on my coins is a little different than most would expect. Here are the quantities of each of my coins. #1-15 Rhodium(jewelry grade metal) #16-40 Black Nickel #41-140 antique Gold #141-240 antique Silver (offered for sale to the public) -Bikinibottomfeeders Quote Link to comment
+Bhob
Just curious - Why did you choose to stop just short of the number (250) needed to qualify for an icon ? Quote Link to comment

Back in the olden days of geocoins, you needed to mint 500 coins to get the icon. Heck, I even remember when there were no icons. Quote Link to comment
+bikinibottomfeeders
If I remember correctly personal icons weren't being allowed at the time. Thanks DD for clarifying the 500 coin thing. I can't remember if they even had the PC prefix at that time. Quote Link to comment
avroair
Just curious - Why did you choose to stop just short of the number (250) needed to qualify for an icon ? Yeah when this personal came out Groundspeak were just starting to consider tracking numbers. For the first state and event coins May 2005-August 2005 you had to mint 1000 to get a tracking number. This was lowered to 500 and an icon in August with FotoMom's personal coin being the first to have a unique icon. It was further lowered to 250 right after we purchased NNJC tracking codes for GONE and Caching through the Snow (they share an icon) and Secret Agent event. July of 2006. Hope this helps. Our Anthus Firefighters were made in early 2006 under the 500 minimum rule. We had 500 minted to qualify for the custom icon. Thanks BBF for the clarification on your coin minting. ...Anthus Edited November 7, 2007 by Anthus Quote Link to comment
