I've just started Cachemagnet and I get an "exception thrown and not caught" error. Very disappointing :( It used to work fairly well but did crash occasionally after transferring waypoints. It was useful for me because I could use it to drop the "GC" from waypoints so that they would fit into my etrex H without losing the last character.

The authors gmail does not work so I tried an email from here.

GOOD NEWS!

Here's the fix.

Thanks to Brians speedy work!

CacheMagnet Fix

Tried installing and patching it but I'm now getting a different script error:

Line: 2

Char: 1

Error: Invalid Character

Code: 0

Url: file:///C:/Program%20Files/CacheMagnet/VirtualEarthMap/VirtualEarthMap.html

Any Ideas?

Make sure the new file overwrites the old one. I have Windows Vista Home on three machines. It would not overwrite the old file even though I told it to "Replace" the old file. I had to delete the old file then move the new one over. the date on the new file in the folder should be 9/25/2008.

Also, Virtual earth is beta, I did get some errors, but not fatal, while moving around in Birds Eye View. I hope those will be corrected in later versions of Virtual Earth.

I have downloaded and installed the patch, but am still getting the following script error on startup

Line: 2

Char: 1

Error: Invalid Character

Code: 0

Url: file:///C:/Program%20Files/CacheMagnet/VirtualEarthMap/VirtualEarthMap.html

I have made sure the old file is overwritten, by manually removing the old file and replacing it with the new one.

Any ideas ?

I am struggling with this program also. I download all notes into my ipod via cachemagnet. Now I am stuck. I'm not very computer savvy, so if anyone can help in a step by step formula to correct this, I would be most obliged. I did go to the fix in yesterday's posts and downloaded it. I still am unable to open cachemagnet.

This was caused when Microsoft stopped supporting the version of VirtuaEarth that CacheMagnet uses. I've posted a new version (0.14) on SourceForge.net to fix this that seems to work for me but I haven't really had anyone else test it. If anyone wants to try it out you can go to http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=159663 . You can also get there from http://cachemagnet.com or http://cachemagnet.googlepages.com.
