What do I plan to do with

well I plan on geocaching at least once with it. My geography teacher introduced it to the class and said if we went on one geocach we would get extra credit... If I like it Ill keep doing it..

 

Also me and a buddy are going back country camping for the first time on Mt.Eagle in TN. I thought it would be nice to have if we are going to start doing that.

 

And I went head first for all of it' features when I was reading about GPS'S.

Never heard of the 530HCX. There is a Streetpilot C530 which is an automotive unit and not the best choice for geocaching and a very poor choice for backcountry use.

 

Great unit for the car though.

Why not purchase a perfectly good GPSr for a couple hundred bucks and donate the rest to your local Battered Women's Shelter?

I have a Rino 120 I carried in Iraq for 18 months. Great unit. I recently purchased the 530 HCx, and there is no comparison. Gets a signal even in the house, and gets it almost immediately. The better reciever is great, and the upgrade to the electronic compass is also extremely helpful.

 

It also works well for automotive use. I have a handlebar mount for my motorcycle. The only thing it was missing from regular automotive units is the voice turn by turn, but again, great on the bike, couldn't hear the voice anyway.
