A Geocacher who clicked the wrong radio button when reporting?

An NGS employee who also geocaches, and is trying to tell us some news about reporting intersection stations?

I am not sure about this one. Since the mark is not really explained, its hard to tell how to report this one. As best as I can tell - the point was usually the beacon light at the top of the tower - if that were the case it could easily be classified as destroyed. Without info on where they measured - its probably best left as a note.

I think you are right about the geocacher that pushed the wrong radio button. I doubt that any NGS employee would waste their time submitting a recovery on this; and even if they did, I can't see them calling 4 legs of an extinct beacon as a recovery.

I am more than willing to go up there and refute the 'found' log (I need to do that anyway), but the issue still remains of a purported NGS recovery on the destroyed tower.

There was extensive discussion on the Geocaching side.......The airway beacon was used in early aviation as a navaid. The waymark would have been at the center of the rotating beacon. Since there is very few of these airway beacons left I would say if the rotating beacon is gone so is the waymark....but log as a did not find.
