Sunnyside Cachers Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Anyone know what's up with MobiPocket? The site has been "down for maintenance" for quite a while. Is there another program that anyone can suggest? Quote
Renegade Knight Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 The server that ran them blew up. Mobi being a PITA to work with doesn't give out the software that makes mobibooks. If they can't recover the software on the server they won't be able to offer the service anymore. Alternates depend on your platorm. Pocket PC. GPX Sonar or Cachemate Palm, Cachemate Most things that can read HTML. Spinner and Plucker. Quote
Sunnyside Cachers Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 Thanks for the update. I'm using an IPAQ Pocket PC. I'll see if I can figure out another one of those programs you suggested. Quote
Stabeez Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 So. If I can't use MobiPocket, what are the alternatives. I have a Mac computer so I need a Palm program that is compatible. Quote
Sunnyside Cachers Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 [i'm going to give GPXView or GPXSonar a shot. As for a Mac, I don't have any experience with that. So I don't know if those will work or not. Quote
Sunnyside Cachers Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 I ran a new query under so I could test out GPXView. It's been over an hour and it hasn't been emailed to me yet. This ever happen to anyone? Am I just being impatient?? They usually come much faster. Quote
2happy2gether Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Cachemate is the best choice (IMO). I agree...now. I was using MobiPocket pretty religiously. When it went down I sucked it up and paid for Cachemate...what was I thinking that MobiPocket was better. I stand converted. Quote
Sunnyside Cachers Posted August 31, 2007 Author Posted August 31, 2007 Yeah, I must admit that Mobi going down was the best thing that ever happened to my PDA. Rather than buying anything, I thought I would download GPXView to use in the interm, until Mobi was back up because I too was a religious user. Wow, what a difference. It's basically a mini version of the website. Quote
