br10ta10 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 It looks like the new Google maps features are an improvement, but it seems that GC.com has taken away the ability to preview your Pocket Queries in Google maps. This is a huge loss! I have lots of PQs set up for different types of caches depending on what my caching mood is. I'll often sit down and think "where are the difficult caches located", or "where are the caches that are kid friendly?" But now I can only see a list of them and have no spatial idea on where they are. TPTB, PLEASE turn this feature back on.
+vonRichthofen Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Yes please get google maps back for PQs!
+d-onion Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I miss this feature the most already. Helps me log my caches and see which area I should target.
+frivlas Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Add me to the list. Please bring this back if possible!
Ranger Fox Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I believe it was removed due to problems encountered. Looking at the new map, it seems some things aren't working right. Anyway, load up your browsers people; ALL new site changes were just reverted.

You do know that you can open up the GPX file from a PQ in Google Earth for free right?? Try it...

They use the 'preview' feature to access the results of them. For instance, I have one set up for caches near my job. By previewing this search, I can see if any new caches sprouted up near my job. I don't need to download this PQ because the caches are sent to me in my normal weekly download. It's just easier to preview this one than to mess with getting the info from my downloaded file.

I agree. Plus you can tweak your PQ by previewing it. Then you can send a GPX file of exactly what you want instead of doing the trial and error method that used to make you run additional PQs, which wastes time and bandwidth. br10ta10 Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 I was hoping that when they pulled the new mapping features after the last release, that they were going to fix all the problems and make it possible to map your pocket queries again. But the new release is out and it looks like mapping of Pocket Queries has been removed as well. Sigh. This might be something I'd cancel my membership over. I'll have to give it a good long consideration.
+michigansnorkelers Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Bring back the map preview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
+SeattleSun Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I haven't updated my PQ's in a couple of weeks, but I really used this feature a lot. I just updated the PQ's, tried to view some of my "tinkering" PQ's in maps, and noticed that this feature is gone. I am already missing it mightily. I have a bunch of PQ's I built just to view in maps and never actually run.

+hairball45 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) seems to work ok for me. It has the "older" style map with the 20 caches down the right side as opposed to the cache type icons, but seems to work ok. hairball ok, the old maps are back on the cache page too................. +pppingme Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 This feature has shown up and disappeared a couple times over the past day or so it seems. Right now its there. To voice my thoughts, I use this feature heavily. Its one of the few things I actually come to the web site for. Almost everything else I do offline, but this is one feature that keeps me on the web site on a regular basis.
