+TotemLake
Because their cat isn't interested in going caching? Hey, I took my cat geocaching a few times . But I agree TO AN EXTENT with the original poster. If it's a pic of them with their dog at the cache, or a pic of them geocaching (like holding a GPS while walking, you get the idea)... then it's fine. But I've seen some pics where it's just... their dog... taken in their house, or inside the car window, or just looking 'cute' at some random, unrelated location. That's kinda weird... since it's like going to an anime convention and trying to gather people to talk about the new dome that will eventually be covering Reactor #4 at Chernobyl. It's just... completely and utterly unrelated, and just gets weird looks. Along the same lines is people who show you their baby pictures for no reason. Noone cares but them... Exactly. Thank you Kabuthunk. That was what I was trying to say, but you have put it more politely. Who are you to say where my adventure begins and ends? Who are you to decide the location of the picture is unrelated? You may be the cache owner but I am the finder and my adventure begins where I say it begins with who or what it begins with, and my pictures will corelate to that hunt. A picture of a dog with his head out the car window may be a dog in anticipation of the trip that begins the hunt. I will take offense to anybody that says having my dog with me is not cache related when my dog was there with me the entire time whether I DNF'd or Found it. I take pictures of my adventure. That includes the way to the cache as well as the way out including at the cache site. My adventure includes the friends I hike with and my dog I take with me and begins when I prepare to look for the cache. That includes printing the paperwork. Ok? That makes it cache related. IT IS part of my story and my log reflects it. This means even if to you my pictures may appear to be unrelated to the cache location, it was part of the trip to get there thus part of my adventure. You as the cache owner should be glad for enthusiastic pet owners going out looking for your cache. Allow them the freedom to post the pictures of the pets they love in their logs. Don't like it? Pick up your ball and go home. This game is for everybody and most of us are happy to include our pets. Quote Link to comment
+treasure_hunter
You mean like this? Bandit along the hike while placing (Bad Branch Falls Earthcache). This is Bandit, our Geo-dog. When he is present with us on caching trips, we take lots of pictures. If I want to post a picture of the dog along with my log, I will do so. Quote Link to comment
+the hermit crabs
I like it when people post pictures of their dogs on our cache pages. Or pictures of their kids, or travel bugs, or themselves, or the scenery. To me, it means that they enjoyed the cache experience enough to take the time to take pictures and post them. (If they didn't enjoy it, they'd be thinking "let's just log this thing and get out of here!") Quote Link to comment

+looksalot
I've never posted a picture of a dog in a cache log, but I like the idea. Quote Link to comment
+kit'n'kaboodle
My pet hate is ferrets. Why would anyone want to own a weasel? Yeah, you and Giuliani. There I added mu 2 cents to this inane topic. (If people take pictures of their pets, who cares? You're not required to view them!!) Quote Link to comment
+Ambrosia
Most caches are sadly barren of pictures. It's sad that having pictures in a cache log is being complained about. Maybe I'll start a thread complaining about there not being enough pictures, be they dogs, cats, kids, slugs, bear scat, etc. Quote Link to comment
+cache_test_dummies
Maybe I'll start a thread complaining about there not being enough pictures, be they dogs, cats, kids, slugs, bear scat, etc. Do it! Maybe your thread will inspire me to get back into posting pictures on cache pages - something I used to do frequently, but haven't done much of lately. But I agree with you. There are definitely not enough pictures of slugs and bear scat. Quote Link to comment

I find that perfectly fine... and I think the OP was implying the same thing (given their reply to me). I think the OP is moreso referring to say... posting a picture like this on a cache page. It just... doesn't make sense. However... that, combined with what Totemlake said brings to mind an AWESOME idea. I don't know if it's currently possible, but I'm sure that the option could easily be added: Attaching an animated gif as a cache picture! That way, you could have a stop-motion type of "silent video" of the entire caching process! Take a pic every 5 minutes or whatever, from when you're sitting at your computer looking at the geocaching page, to snapping the leash onto yonder puppy, hopping in the car, and going caching! Sweet crap, the more I think about that, the more awesome the idea seems. I'd LOVE to watch a stop-motion type animated gif of people caching . Well... time to go make a topic suggesting this in the appropriate forum . Quote Link to comment
