+Krusers
I am trying to determine how to download geocaching webpages so that I would be able to view them for hints, etc. What steps are needed? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

+Miragee
Since you are a Premium Member, you can create Pocket Queries. Then, you can open that file with a program like GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife). GSAK allows you to view the data offline in your browser. From GSAK, you can send the waypoints to your GPSr and Export to your PDA, if you have one. Cachemate is a great program for an inexpensive Palm so you can see all the information on the cache pages, and log your finds as well. Here is a rudimentary GSAK tutorial that might help you get started with that powerful program. Quote Link to comment

Thanks! Download them to what? Your PC, a PDA, Smartphone? The original download ws to print them out. If something more hi-tech is needed then yes, a program that reads loc or gpx files is needed. I use GSAK as has been already mentioned. To go paperless on the road a PDA or similar device with another program is needed, I use GPXSonar. Quote Link to comment

+Miragee
Then GSAK is the answer. You can get up to five PQs per day, which would give you the data for 2500 caches, or many more, depending on how you have set up the 40 PQs you are allowed to have in your list. Even when you are not online, clicking on a cache in GSAK brings up the cache information (without the images) in your browser. Quote Link to comment

I suggest you get a cheap PDA off of ebay - used ones go for around $30 and are much more trail friendly then the laptop. I need to get up to Douglas for a class on paperless..... +Team FIREBOY
Starbrand, I did some of your caches today. Paperless. Vista CX (gives turn by turn directions), loaded by GSAK, plus my laptop to view cache pages offline. Then I pull up to a hotel or a restaurant with free wi-fi and post my finds. Nice set up, and I would be willing to help you figure it out if you can't get to a class soon. Sometimes I do also use my Palm T-5. Quote Link to comment
