+lele2 Posted June 11, 2007 Share Posted June 11, 2007 OK, I put a FTF Geocoin in one of my cache's meant to be the "prize". I also logged it in and it has a Travel Bug Trackable Item number..... What I want to know is....How do I get this "FTF Geocoin" given to the rightly person who found the cache first! Obviously I was not supposed to go ahead and log this coin but what can I do now???? One more thing....why are you using this reference # "reference number TB1971V"? and what EXACTLY do you mean... I want to do it RIGHT the FIRST TIME, sorry for all the questions, and you have both been very helpful... Access http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ Enter in the reference number. Then you'll be prompted to enter in the user name of the person you are adopting it out to. Quote Link to comment

+Eartha Posted June 11, 2007 Share Posted June 11, 2007 The number on the tag is the tracking number, one you don't post publicly, or some unscrupulous person could move your TB to places they never see, or pass out the number and it gets logged virtually, which can get a TB locked. The number on the TB web page that says "Use TB19HHX to reference this item" is the reference number that you CAN post in public places that people can use to look up the Travel Bug's page. The tracking number is the number you need to adopt the coin over, so write it down somewhere. Did you also leave the copy tag in the cache? If not, you won't be able to use the copy tag to send out another bug, or you'd have two traveling under the same number, another thing that can get a bug page locked. It causes confusion for people looking for the travel bug. Quote Link to comment
