+david.travis
I have tried signing up to get the automatic email whenever Garmin updates the firmware for my GPS or the software for my Mapsource software. However, I have yet to receive any of the emails. For example, there was an update on Mar 26 and I did not receive any notification. I must be doing something wrong. Is anyone experiencing any similar problems? Quote Link to comment

onemilmhz
This is not good news to me as I just purchased a 60CSx and have tried unsuccessfully to do several things via their website. I barely got the dang thing registered, at least I think I did. I am also considering plunking down nearly $100 bucks for MapSource but now I don't know. How reliable is Garmin customer service, updates, etc.? Quote Link to comment
Team Sidewinder
I never rely on email on updates for Garmin gpsr and don't remember ever getting one even though I have registered to recieve them. I get better results by check this forum and the Garmin web site for my particular gps. Quote Link to comment

How reliable is Garmin customer service, updates, etc.? If you go to mygarmin you can see if you got yours registered. Mine registered just fine, but I just do not get the updates. I did notice that the revision date on their webpage where you sign up for the updates was changed recently, so that may indicate they are aware of the issue. In the meantime, I have just bookmarked the webpage for the updates and will check it once a month or so. With regards to customer service, I have been very pleased. I get in fairly fast and the reps are helpful and courteous. Software updates have been reliable and worked every time I have applied them. Quote Link to comment
+DustyWalker
I got this rude message when I tried to update mapsource. Anyone know what's up? Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
I can't read what it says, but I downloaded that huge (45 MB) update to Mapsource a while ago and the update went smoothly on both my desktop, running Win2K, and my laptop running XP Media Edition. Quote Link to comment
+Red90
It is not readable. What operating system? The new Mapsource only works on 2000/XP/Vista. Quote Link to comment
+DustyWalker
Sorry- give this a try. I am running XP Quote Link to comment
+Bush Babies
I got the same message. Running XP as well. Maybe I'll stick with the older version, it works fine. Quote Link to comment

Maybe I'll stick with the older version, it works fine. Download the update from the website and save it to disk, then install it manually. Garmin is aware of the problems and are working to correct it. I found all this out a few weeks ago when I called them on the phone about the same error message. They were great, even stayed on the phone with me while all this downloaded and installed to make sure it worked. Though the website might have a gremlin or two in it, I can't beat the phone support and wouldn't consider another. Scooter Quote Link to comment
+Bush Babies
Ok, problem was in trying to update from Mapsource itself. Went to Garmin site and dowloaded full update. Works like a charm. Quote Link to comment
