Welcome to the addiction!

If you are interested in trading, I would suggest you keep those you intend to trade unactivated. You can always trade an activated coin, you just have to go through and "adoption" process. It's easy, you just need to find someone that will want an activated coin.

Any suggestions if you buy some coins but yet haven't placed them in a cache - is there anyway to "park" them somewhere where they don't show up everytime I log a cache?

I've created a cache page at my home coords that I have not and will not publish. I use this as a storage locker for any trackables I don't want to show up in my inventory. It's also the location that I start all of my trackables that I release so that they have original mileage starting at my home coords.

you can 'place' them in 'unknown location' (Mark Item as Missing from the dropdown list) as if they were lost and then grab them back when you are ready to have them in your inventory again. They will not accumulate miles that way, as they would if you placed them in a phantom or archived cache.

Not a bad idea, only problem there is certain coins who owners retain ownership of. like Moun10bike, Jeep'en Jumpers, and PurplePaws. Those coins you cannot mark missing, Which is why I recently started using the unpublished cache idea.

Unactivated or activated usually doesn't matter. What people want is the ability to own the coin after the trade and activate it themselves so they get the icon.

If you're trading an activated coin you can always adopt it out to the per son you trade with - jsut be clear upfront that it is already activated and will be adopted. Most people ASSUME that trades are not activated so this will avoid any issues.
