Ambuscher
Is there a listing for finding the little cement survey markers, or is it just a local thing? I am refering to the cement triangles that stand six to eight inches tall that alot of the time will mark high points on ridges. Quote Link to comment

Z15
It might be coincidence they are on high points of ridge but I know of none that are purposely set to to be? What would be a reason to do that??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Edited September 6, 2006 by Z15 Quote Link to comment
+m&h
Do they coincide with county or state boundaries? Quote Link to comment

+m&h
Ugh. We're sorry about the duplicate post above, which came out of an error message on the first attempt. Quote Link to comment
+Black Dog Trackers
Maybe it's some sort of trail marker. Maybe a windfarm survey? Quote Link to comment
+slippeddisk
Those things are all over the place out here in the Shenandoah Valley. It has alwas been my understanding that they are highway right of way markers. Quote Link to comment

West michigan has several HWY Right-of-way markers at intersections that are a cement post, triangluar cross section and usually stand 18" to 36" above grade. They are often reference points in updates to the NSRS. Quote Link to comment

They are often reference points in updates to the NSRS. FYI In Michigan The triangular concrete posts are "Project Markers". Used many years ago to mark the beginning of a federal aide highway project. They were noted on plans and placed by contractor as part of project. The often had a brass plate attached (most fall off) that ID'd the project etc. ROW marks are square concrete post, 4" on top tapering to 8" on bottom (6 ft), have R/W stenciled into the concrete face on road side and were placed by the contractor as part of the project.
