+tellskirt
I have found many rude and uncalled for comments in the logs when cachers log their finds. They are rude and directed to one or two other cachers. I want to know, in anothers opinion, should we be making these types of comments. Or should we simply be logging the status and the fact that that we found or did not find the cache. Thanx Quote Link to comment
+WildGooseChase
If I like the cache I write a nice paragraph If it's a boring cache I TNLNSL If I don't like the cache I will write a bit explaining why. You do what you feel is right and others do what they feel is right. Quote Link to comment
+Harriet the Spy
Do you have a link to the logs in question? Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Logs are a place to record your experiences with the cache. If your experience with the cache is a negative one, then negative logs could be appropriate. However logs are not a place to air general grievances or carry on arguments with cache owners or other geocachers. Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
I think most would agree that honesty in logs is important. However, I think too many people think this need for honesty is an excuse to be snotty. Quote Link to comment

+TheAlabamaRambler
I can't imagine any excuse for a negatively-toned log. Worst case, even a note critical of the cache can be phrased politely. Negative comments regarding the owner or other cachers should be deleted. Anyone can disagree without being disagreeable... it is a choice every poster makes. Ed Quote Link to comment

"Negative tone" and "polite" are not exclusive of each other. A negative log can be exceptionally polite. Quote Link to comment

+darus67
I believe it was Ambrose Bierce who defined diplomacy as the art of telling someone to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip. Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
I thought diplomacy was the art of saying, "Nice doggy", while looking for a big stick? Back on topic: Regardless of how bad a cache is, I would not post a derogatory log. As mentioned above, if I like it, I might type several paragraphs. If it's a film canister in the bushes of a Burger King, I'll post a TNLNSL. A lame cache is no excuse for bad manners. Quote Link to comment
+Team Perks
If I think a cache sucks, I'm going to explain why I think it sucks. If the owner wants to take it as an insult instead of as constructive criticism, that's their prerogative. Quote Link to comment
+tellskirt
I hope you don't mind me responding to your comment about how cachers leave their comments! It's not how good or bad OR lousy the cache is. It's other cachers making rude and childish comments about other cachers. This cacher I'm talking about makes comments about cachers, not the caches. The comments are rude, uncalled for and down right childish. Do you think that's appropriate ? ? ? Quote Link to comment
KGunner
Personal attacks are never appropriate. Quote Link to comment
+TrailGators
If I find problems with a cache, I will always include those in my log to inform the owner and to warn other cachers. Most of the time the main problem is that the coords are off. This is a problem if you are looking for a needle-in-the-haystack micro. Quote Link to comment
+palser
As is always the case, there are a dozen differant ways to look at a situation. And there are those that always seem to take a negative stance in their observations. And conversly there are those on the other end that are alway generous (and hopefully honest) in the comments. We recently had someone come blowing into town and picked up 15-20 finds, and had nothing good to say about any of them (must have been constipated or something). Most of us just wrote it off and are glad he's gone. Personally I like it when something nice is said about my hides, but I don't get upset when it goes the other way. Like they always say, "IT'S JUST A GAME!" Quote Link to comment
