Waypoint projection in Mapsource

I've got two Mapsource questions:

 

1) Is it possible to project a new waypoint from an existing one using Mapsource?

 

2) When I move the cursor across the map it "snaps" to roads which makes it diffycult to place a waypoint close to a road. Is it possible to switch this option off?

 

Can anyone help with these?

the only thing i have to add is that the more you are zoomed-in the greater the placement control you will have

1) No, there is no projection utility within Mapsource.

2) If you switch to the base map, or Topo, vs detailed street mapping it won't snap to roads. It will try to snap to other features though.

I'm gonna send Garmin a request to add these features to Mapsource as if they would, but who knows, maybe they've 999 requests for these and the're just waiting for next one...

You can project a waypoint, sort of. Click on the "Distance/Bearing Tool" Next, hover over the source waypoint and click it. When you move the cursor you will see a distance and bearing from the source waypoint displayed on the lower part of the screen. When you get to the distance and bearing desired for the projected waypoint, note the coordinates. Right click and "cancel". Select the waypoint tool and create a new waypoint at the coordinates you noted.
