avroair
If anyone has an cool ideas for 'feats' list them here. They can be broken down into 'easy' and 'hard' I will assemble a feats points list... so start thinking! Quote Link to comment
+OshnDoc
That sounds like a loty of fun. How about more than one set of coins? Have three children, who would be interested too. Count me in. Quote Link to comment
avroair
Ok so I been doing some thinking (now my head hurts!) and I talked to a couple of local coin collecting cachers at the last event and have come up with a plan! Around the World in 80 Days This wouldn't be a race in the standard sense of the term, but rather a contest with varying goals and finishlines, (that way people can opt for whatever strategy suits them). There will be 80 feats broken down into 8 categories of 10 feats. Categories: 1. Mileage = distances logged by the geocoin example: coin moves more than 500 miles in one drop 2. Movement Markers = standard goals logged by the geocoin example: coin cross a state border, or visits a new country 3. Activity (or inactivity) = frequency of drops and logs example: coin moves within 3 days of being dropped 4. Caches = types of caches coin is logged into example: high terrain or difficulty or a puzzle cache 5. Buddies = travel bugs the coin meets example: coin is traded for another geocoin 6. Hollywood = photographed in an interesting place or spot example: = coin is photographed at a national landmark 7. Transportation = way coin is delivered to a cache 8. Fun Stuff / Unusual = coin does something unusual example: geocoin is logged in a historic cache Quote Link to comment
+forthferalz
hi avroair, we like the balloon coin idea heaps. this really sounds great but like all Tb's you are dependant on meeting the goodwill of others. Some of us go out of our way to always try to be good hosts, others are like holding onto my kids bug for nearly a year and at least it ain't lost! So how about random draw for those that help a bug in the race? say for every bug you help you get a ticket in the draw? Also the bug attrition - can you please make it ok to replace a stolen oops lost coin with a double resurrected in a nearby cache otherwise count us out. Getting a coin stolen is bad enough without the possibility of deliberate sabotage wrecking the fun of the game as well. and BTW kudos for thinking of this game - perhaps it has a place here www.cachinggames.com (you can see me missing out by one spot on a prize! Thanks for the good suggestions, a ticket draw is a good incentive to keep things moving along... there are spare geocoins included at the start for such hiccups. I would also sell coins to non-race members to reduce the urge to swipe one for a collection. Quote Link to comment

There will be 80 sets of 4 coins available: (1) coin traveler (2) back up coin traveler (3) personal collection coin (you can keep it or set it free) (4) winner's circle coin The artwork will be available sometime in September. I have alot of feats (100) does anyone have any unusual feats they would like to see included? List them here... what things can a geocoin do? Quote Link to comment

It would cost a coin for the participant, but since there will be a back up coin, it could work. Have one of the feats to get the coin included in the Icon Ho. Because of the loss of that coin, it would probably have to rack up quite a few points, tho. Quote Link to comment
+Whistlen
I'm game...errr....want to play the game that is! ADD ME TOO PLEASE! Okay, I did express interest back in July and forgot about this. I am sorry that I forgot and wasn't happy with what I thought to be a un-requested invoice. Please forgive me. Quote Link to comment
