sailorjp
Has anybody had any luck with downloading and viewing Topo Maps on their ppc PDA? Quote Link to comment
briansnat
I put National Geographic Topo on my Palm. I wasn't too happy with the results tho. The screen resolution on the M500 wasn't very good and it wasn't easy to read. Quote Link to comment
Indotguy
Has anybody had any luck with downloading and viewing Topo Maps on their ppc PDA? I use a ppc product by MAPTECH and have been fairly satisfied. It allows you to download waypoints to the maps using GSAK and you can mark points by cursor or by coordinates. It's not freeware but I feel it's l money well spent if you spend much time in the woods. Quote Link to comment
Sand-Man
I use them all the time on my PDA with no special software and they work great. I also save the cache page to my PDA and I can view it just like it were on my laptop......only smaller... Edited July 15, 2006 by Sand-Man Quote Link to comment

Steel City Seekers
http://www.backcountrynavigator.com/ is a pretty nice program that offers detailed topo maps, and is early in development so there are quite a few updates being developed now. It's $30, which is pretty reasonable and much less than comparable products I looked at, and it offers downloads of not just topo maps but also overhead photo maps. GPS works for both. It allows import of .gpx files and lots of other neat features. The maps, particularly the photo maps, require a pretty good bit of storage space, but that is of course required for the amount of detail you get. Quote Link to comment
