+greywynd
I've been reading the site and forums off and on for a few weeks now, and am interested in geocaching, but would like to learn more about it, maybe meet someone that can go through some basics, or go to an event to learn about it. Of course I'd rather do this first before spending $$$ on unit, partially to learn more about the units as well, and help me decide what I should look at buying. I'm located near Peterborough, Ontario, and do a fair bit of travelling. I also have a 5yo son that would likely enjoy it as well. Years ago I spent a lot of time doing field work using a map and compass for mining companies, and would like to learn about the improvements in technology as well. Mark Quote Link to comment
+Team JSAM
As for a GPSr I would start out with a Garmin eTrex or a Magellen eXplorist 200 both right around 100.00 USD. As for learning more about geocaching check out The Geocacher University , also dont read the forums to much, the best info is on the geocaching.com website. Quote Link to comment
