Magellan 315?

My old Palm Magellan unit has died. So, I'm shopping eBay for the best deal that I can get. So far, it looks like the Magellan 315 is a pretty good deal. Before I buy one I just wanted to get some opinions on the device. It's strictly for geocaching and I don't need a whole bunch of bells and whistles.

It will work, but don't go paying more than $50 for it.

You may also want to go to the Magellan website and download the software update( really a firmware update) if it has not already been installed, look for Ver.3.15 at switch on. Linky For this you will need a data cable, one for a Sportrack or Meridian will do if you cant get the GPS 300 series one Or if handy with a soldering iron you could always make one up.

The data cable also comes into its own when you want to download lots of waypoints for caches later when the geocaching bug really bites.

Great little unit. I started out with one and still carry it for a backup. The version 3.15 update is a must for geocaching so be sure and download it.

Like MAG315, I use my 4 year old 315 as a backup to my MeriPlat. I only bought the Platinum to be able to load maps (Was a great price too!).

Well, from what I'm seeing on eBay, these are going for around $60, plus shipping. If you know of a cheaper source then feel free to let me know.
