KZ45 Posted May 6, 2006 Share Posted May 6, 2006 I am getting ready to go to Venice and thinking about taking the explorist 500 with me. I don't have the european map and was wondering if the unit would just show a white screen. If possible I would just use it to mark a hotel and use the tracking to get back to home base. adrianjohn Posted May 6, 2006 Share Posted May 6, 2006 (edited) I would expect that the base map would just show the basic white map, as does my European Basemap Meridian when outside of Europe. There is no reason why you should not be able to use the backtrack to get home to base again, also marking poi's for reference as you move around. Thanks Irv Yeah, I have used mine in Switzerland and for about 6 months in Australia like this, I thought it was kinda neat to watch the tracks start to appear the more I used it. If you save your tracks you can then download software from Here that will enable you to add your tracks to your detail map thereby creating your own map. Quote Link to comment

This is our first major trip anywhere for our 13 aniversary. we leave Saturday stay 3 days in Venice then Athens, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Mykonos, Civitavecchia, Livorno, Marseille and finally Barcelona which we will stay one more day then fly home.
