shadowhaus & tumbleweed
I have a Magellan XL and it sucks up batteries like crazy. I was wondering if all cigarette lighter adapters are equal or are they set to different voltages? And if they are, does anyone know what voltage the adapter for the XL takes? I couldn't find any anything voltage related in the manual and Magellan tech support did not know. I am trying to keep from buying a 30 plus dollar adapter from Magellan if I can get the same for $8.00 at Radio Shack. Thanks Edited May 2, 2006 by shadowhaus & tumbleweed Quote Link to comment
Stunod
There are many different adapters, and without knowing the voltage, polarity and tip size that the XL requires matching up an "after-market" adapter would be next to impossible. Quote Link to comment

Markwell
Porbably the best place to start would be looking at specifications of the off-the-shelf versions. Quote Link to comment
Woodbutcher68
Try E-Bay. I got an aftermarket windshield mount and power cord for my Meriplat for $25.00. Works fine! Quote Link to comment

headybrew
An alternative you should consider is a set of NiMH rechargable batteries and charger. You can get 4 batteries and a car charger for less than $20. It's good for the environment, and it saves you from buying batteries for outside of the car too. Quote Link to comment
