  1. Trails.com is more for finding hiking trails, campgrounds, off-road trails, and such. I have it because it came with a free 1 year subscription when I bought MapSend Topo 3d. It's nice to have if your plan a caching trip and want to find campgrounds and hiking trails near by.
  2. Nope still no luck. It knows there is a folder there because it tells me and asks if I want to overwrite it, which I say yes. The problem seems to be that it is transferring the name file but none of the waypoints. Can someone give me a step by step lay out, starting with opening GSAK up, of what I need to do and what I should see to get these caches downloaded? I'm missing 1 step somewhere but I don't see where.
  3. I did GOTO and found nothing in the Fishing folder. Fishing was empty but when looking at it in windows explorer it says: Fishing GS File 4 KB
  4. I know I know....yet another one. Anyway, I can not seem to get my caches to show up on the screen. I can see them in the GEOCACHE folder but when I select a file like "FISHING" to become active, none of the points show up on the map. I also loaded the same caches using Geochache Manager and they show up. Oh and I have an Explorist XL. I read as many help topics I could find and no luck. The above results were after following instructions from GSAKs help files. These are the instructions: 1. Filter or otherwise select the caches you want to upload in GSAK. 2. Attach your explorist to PC in file transfer mode, SD card. 3. Select GPS/export to Magellan Explorist 4. In the dialog window that comes up, specify a. required format (Explorist POIs or Explorist Geocaches); b. The path and file to create. You can use the browse icon at the right of the field to locate your Explorist. Make sure you get the right folder (My POIs or Geocaches) c. Give a name to the file. Mine ends up looking something like "M:\Geocaches\York.gs" d. Until you're sure what you're doing, use "%code" for Geocache ID and whatever smart tag you like for Geocache Name...the default is probably fine. e. Generate If doing geocache POIs, you may want to limit the export to 200 since that's all a single file can handle. The only thing I'm doing different is instead of "M:\Geocaches\York.gs" I use "F:\Geocaches\Fishing.gs" A Fishing file is created in the Geocache folder and I can see it but when I make it an active file, I can't see any of the points. Anyone have any ideas.
  5. I just get the line down the right side at start up. No pixalation that I have noticed.
  6. Just curious, why didn't you buy from eBay or someone else first? It's always more expensive to buy straight from the manufacturer. Look at the eXplorist batteries, like $40 from Magellan or about $5 on eBay. I figured Magellan would be the first to sell its' own product. I guess I was wrong. I wasn't concerned with the price. Its the speed of delivery that concerns me.
  7. Now the swivel bracket status on my order account just went from being on backorder to being out of stock. I'm cancelling my order with Magellan and I have one on the way from EBAY. It will be here tomorrow and cheaper than Magellan is selling them.
  8. Another reason why Thales/Magellan SUCKS!!!!!! I ordered a swivel bracket over 3 weeks ago. It has been on back order with an unknown release date. A buddy just got one off of EBAY. He ordered it 2 days ago and it has already been delivered. How dare they sell these brackets to outside companies before they have taken care of their own customers who have had their orders on backorder. I'm cancelling my order with Magellan and shopping EBAY.
  9. Finally I have a UPS tracking number. I shipped last night BUT it is not expected to be delivered until next Thursday the 15th. 7 full days for a package to go from Texas to California. Is it coming by pony express or mule train. At least it shipped but a weekend too late.
  10. HEY MAGELLAN!!!!!!!!!! Send my stuff to Bill in Canada from now on. You people in wherever Fortworth, TX SUCK!!!!!!!! Well it has completed week 5 now into week 6 and still no shipping details. Even though now they told me it has been "released for shipping" it hasn't shipped yet and to call back in 2 days for tracking numbers. That was 3 full days ago and still nothing. I tried the supervisor route and being nice to being a complete a**hole and I got the same effect. No cooperation. After about 300 phone calls, 2 emails (with no reply), and 1 fax (I think I'm on a flagged list or something) I have come to the conclusion that Magellan really doesn't care for the people who buy their products......Oh yeah AND THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!
  11. My XL did the same thing. And after running around in a full blown panic screaming like a little school girl and thinking I just screwed up my GPSr, it quit do whatever it was doing and started up like brand new. No idea why, what, or how it did it but it still worked afterwards. Always wondered about it also.
  12. Don't send it in to be repaired. You'll never see it again. : )
  13. Ok Thanks....That's what I thought but I read some of the other Topics and websites and some made it sound as if you could load the photos onto a GPSr. Maybe I was just reading what I wanted to read because that would be nice if an aerial photo could be used as a Detailed Map.
  14. Can USAPhotoMaps be loaded into my Magellan XL as a detailed map just like my MapSend Topo Maps? I Selected the area I want and it was automaticly put into the USAPhotomaps folder as "TerraFetcherRegion.txt". I then took that file and ran it through the Terra Fetcher program and it made some "DTA" files in another folder. My question now is.....now what?
  15. I ran 5 PQ's this morning. Received 3 right away still waiting on 2. Ran 2 last night and still waiting on those also. It seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Oh well. We'll see what happens.
  16. I wish I had the same experience. I bought a car adapter, from them and it worked once and then fried my XL. I called on April 30th and got the RA#. May 1st I mailed it overnight, also with $400.00 INS., with email notification of delivery. It was delivered on May 2nd at 10 am. Still waiting
  17. And you let them end with that? I would have been talking to corporate HQ at that point and would have my GPSr shipped out for overnight delivery. I don't know why but I am REALLY good at dealing with people like that. I had an argument with dishnetwork once and by the time it was over they paid me to buy out my contract I have had several run ins with Verizon wireless and always came out on top on those too. As a matter of fact one of those was just yesterday over giving me a new Motorola RAZR V3 because of problems I was having with my year old samsung phone Hahaha....It's because I usually lose it by that time and start slamming and throwing the phone around with a whole lot of cussing. I told them they had until the end of this weekend to have it in my hands. If not, they have a headquarters about a half hour from my work. I think I'll stop by and see what the malfunction is.
  18. On May 1st I sent my Explorest XL in to be repaired. It was fixed and was being tested by the 8th. 4 weeks ago I called to get an update on the shipping details. I was told to call back the following week. 3 weeks ago I called and was told it was waiting to be shipped and to call back the following week for shipping details and a tracking number. 2 weeks ago I called and was told it was waiting to be shipped and to call back the following week. By now I'm just a little upset and I start demanding to know why I am getting the old run around. I ask for the repair centers contact number so I can deal directly with them. Nope, they don't give that number out. So last week I called and I was told it is waiting to be shipped and to call back the following week which brings us to today. I called first thing this morning and I am told it is being repaired. When I tell them I was already told it was repaired, tested, and awaiting to be shipped, they tell me it takes 2-3 weeks after being repaired before it is shipped out. I then proceed to lose my f***ing mind. I went on an out of control explanation of not only has it been 2-3 weeks since it has been repaired but it has actually been 5 weeks since it has been repaired and it has been waiting 4 weeks to be shipped. Their answer........call us back next week. Anyone else have the same experience? How long did it take to get your unit back?
  19. I have a Magellan XL and it sucks up batteries like crazy. I was wondering if all cigarette lighter adapters are equal or are they set to different voltages? And if they are, does anyone know what voltage the adapter for the XL takes? I couldn't find any anything voltage related in the manual and Magellan tech support did not know. I am trying to keep from buying a 30 plus dollar adapter from Magellan if I can get the same for $8.00 at Radio Shack. Thanks
