Magellan Merdian Gold Batt Life?

What kind of batt life can one expect from the Meridian gold? My dad has a Meridian color but it seems to require the back light on all the time to be able to read it, so it makes for a lousy batt life.

I'm not sure if it's in here or not, if it isn't there is still a lot of good reading click here I use to get about 14 hours out of mine if I remember correctly. And the gold is a excellent unit

Try Energizer e2 Lithium..

 

Cost twice as much, but last 3x as long.

I ran a drain down test on my Gold a few months back on a freshly charged set of Energizer 2500's. Unit on, not tracking sats. Ran 14hours.

I think about 15 hours with standard alkaline batteries. Marcie/Eric is/are correct that lithium last longer but I am a tight-wad and I use NiMH batteries almost exclusively. I always have 2 or 3 sets with me as a backup. I live in Minnesota and the cold can zap the battery life. I must be a quantity ofer quality kind of guy.

14 hours is about what my eXplorist 200 can do. I have tried the e2 lithiums. They certainly last longer than the alkalines. This will certainly influence my possible purchase if I can get the money to buy one.
