+jimlin
Once I've dl'd some waypoints into my etrex, they show up as 005, 006, etc. Is there a way to give them brief descriptive names in the etrex? Also, is there a place to find out what the shorthand such as "TFTC" is when I've logged my finds? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+Polar B's
What are you using to dowload them to the etrex? Normally they will come with the "GCXXXX" number as the description. As for the Shorthand, check out the pinned threads at the top of the getting started forums here Edited March 22, 2006 by Polar B's Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
jimlin, since you are a Premium Member, you can create Pocket Queries. This allows you to get up to 500 caches in one file. Then you can use a program such as GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) to manage your data and send the waypoints to your GPSr. GSAK allows you to even give the waypoints, "smart names" instead of the cryptic GC names. I use GSAK to download waypoints to my Garmin Vista C, Export the cache data to my Mapsource maps, Export to my Palm M500 for "Paperless" caching using Cachemate on the Palm. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
You are able to change the waypoint name to anything that is meaningful to you. You can leave it as "003", change it to the caches waypoint name (aka GC#) or make up your own shorthand for the waypoint. All you have to do is click on the waypoint name and use the keypad that pops up to edit it. Quote Link to comment
