Button Wear

Just got my new 60cx and loving it. The only thing that concerns me about it is the whether or not the printing on the buttons will last with repeated use. Has this been an issue with any Garmin 60 series owners? If so what do you think about a coat of clear nail polish on the buttons to protect them. :o

My experience with a 60cs has been pretty poor (that said, it's the only part of owning it that hasn't been brilliant). It seems like the printing peels off in a succession of very thin layers. Currently I can't read In, Out, or Enter - the writing has all gone. A layer or two has also gone from the disk-wheel-thingy.

I have had my 60cs for a little over a year and the print is still there on all the buttons, all though looking at the new 60csx I just got today the buttons do seem a lot brighter. I think that you will find it will be a non issue.

Thanks,

kg.

Be very careful if you have any type of bug spray on your fingers. It will eat the white letters off the buttons. I had to return my 60C for a USB PORT repair and Gramin replace the buttons no charge. Sent in on a Monday and had it back the following Friday. Thier service was great.

I have had the Map60C since Feb 2003, so it's been 3 years, and I have the newer 60Cx.

Since I have not used bug spray before, the buttons on my heavily used 60C are near perfect.

The bug spray can ruin plastic.
