+Cowboy59
I would like to know if a Garmin 60cs connected to a pc via usb can provide for real-time tracking using MapSource Topo? Edited January 1, 2006 by Cowboy59 Quote Link to comment
+TBK
I bet you can. We do it on USGS Topo! and it draws a nice track on the map. Most mapping packages will read the GPS and draw the tracks. Quote Link to comment
Neo_Geo
You can definitely do that, but you MAY need to download and install the NROUTE program from Garin's Web site. It's a free program. I know it's required to do autorouting on the laptop (even with a plain yellow eTrex and MetroGuide maps), but I'm not sure if that's necessary for simply showing tracks in real time on the laptop or not. +NomadVW
I do it on ExpertGPS and GPS Trackmaker. Quote Link to comment
+park2
The older versions of MapSource (6.5 and lower) do it, the newer versions do not, you have to download nRoute as someone mentioned. It doesn't really matter which maps you have installed, in fact you can have no map, it is just the MapSource program that does the recording. Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
A really nice one is USAphotoMaps> http://jdmcox.com/ Really nice to be able to track yourself along Aerial and Satellite photos, and TOPO on USAPhotoMaps on the Laptop, and whenever you have an internet connection on the Laptop, you can download more chunks of TOPO, and photo Data.
