  1. I noticed Mapsource only allows you to load one GPX file at a time. It gets tedious. Used the Pocket Query to get a mass of GPX files from Groundspeak. That worked nicely!
  2. Did you start at this link? http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsource/default.asp Enter your customer code (7 or 8 characters) and it will generate a new 25 character unlock code for the software. You can do it once more for a second unit. TBK
  3. From what I can tell, pretty dang accurate <1MPH error on my GPS 10 and 76CS.
  4. I would pick City Select for the 60CS since the maps are in smaller chunks. I looked at City Navigator for my 76CS which has twice the memory and concluded even then it would be a challenge in some situations to get exactly the maps I wanted on it. IMO TBK
  5. I went through this search for my 4350 Ipaq and settled on the Garmin GPS 10 from Amazon for $199 (mainly because I could use the CS on my 76CS too). It comes with City Select V6 (which Garmin will upgrade for free to V7) but when it comes to chargers and mounts, I couldn't find any package that had everything. I finally got my mounts and cables from different sources. The HP BT GPS (FA196A#ABA) is good too but in the end you will get the BT GPS receiver, the charger for the GPS and the software. Mounts and other chargers (for like the iPaq) will be extra. A final note about maps. Almost all of the mapping software (streets and routes) use Navteq map data and then the various manufacturer's add their little tweaks so the differences aren't all that big other than the "features". TBK
  6. I bet you can. We do it on USGS Topo! and it draws a nice track on the map. Most mapping packages will read the GPS and draw the tracks.
  7. When I went to unlock my CS7 it implied I was going to get charged to get the codes but it came up $0.
  8. Yes. I bought a GPS 10 BT for my Ipaq and it came with City Select. I unlocked that on the GPS 10 and then unlocked it for my 76CS. The unlock is against the serial number of the unit. It can be two different models or two of the same. It doesn't care. But I am not sure what that has to do with a third party package. Garmin has nothing to do with unlocking it. When you unlock the Garmin maps you unlock it for a serial number; you don't unlock it for the software (if that makes sense). TBK
  9. Considering City Select list for something like $120 and the GPS 10 package from Amazon is $199, I bought the GPS 10 package and figured I got a GPS for $80. Not too bad really. I use it on iPaq 4350 and it works great. I haven't had the GPS 10 tell me it can't find the satellites even once and we live in some heavily wooded areas. TBK
  10. I dorked up my CS6 and CS7 installations several times until I got a handle on what they were doing, so it doesn't appear you can lock yourself out. Glad you got it. It's not a user friendly process for sure but I am impressed with the content and details.
  11. Do you have any software that is blocking cookies? If the cart is empty, then I don't believe you ordered anything yet.
  12. I just got my Premium membership (thanks!) and it makes caching tons easier! That is the perfect list of what is needed. TBK
  13. When I called Garmin for CS V7, they said they issue updates around June/July of each year after NavTeq issues their updates to the various suppliers. NavTeq is the source for most of the map data.
  14. We have an iPaq 4350 but I can't use it until I get my premimum membership. I want to move away from LOC files and on to GPX. I tried saving the webpages to the iPaq but it's too much hassle to scroll.
  15. I got my V7 update today (free) so they must have another batch in.
  16. Just just got my free V7 update today so they must be getting them in now. I bought a GPS10 about two weeks ago and it came with V6.
  17. I thought there was a passive and active version of the Gilsson but I have the active version and it makes a huge difference. I use it with my 76CS. Anytime the signals are marginal from trees or in a canyon I can connect the Gilsson and I get a lock without any problems. In fact I don't recall a situation where I didn't get a lock with the antenna (although in a house or building it's not going to help). TBK
  18. I just got my GPS 10 from Amazon and it came with CS V6. I called Garmin and they are sending the V7 DVD for free. I will post when I actually get it but they sounded pretty matter of fact. I'm running it with an iPaq H4350. Works fine. Now to unlock the 76CS! TBK
  19. Thanks for all of the help folks. This works out great. I wanted CS and now I can get the Bluetooth GSP 10 for just a bit more (ok, a whole lot more...). Terry
  20. That begs this question. I'm looking at buying the Garmin GPS 10 to use with my iPaq 4350. The GPS 10 comes with a "fully unlocked version of City Select". Would it have to be unlocked for the GPS 10 Bluetooth receiver or is it wide open? Can I use the CS with my 76CS too? Can you have too many GPS units??????
  21. My wife and I just bought a new 76CS. I installed Mapsource Trips and Waypoints and noticed it had a map unlock feature. What is there to unlock? I thought it only had essentially the same base map as the 76CS. Is there more detail to be seen or is this for unlocking CS or CN maps when you add those packages? Found our first two caches too (I need to log them)! Terry
