;) I dont know if im being Childish or not but im 24 and I think there should be an international standard Player I.D card, a little wallet sized card for every player with a printer in a simple format. Maybe a spot for a picture Too ? ( :) ). I could go to kinkos and elaminate it. Most could do the same i hope. What does any one else think?

It would speed up any law enforcement encounters also.

I've found a little trick to help with 'lamination.'

When I needed to make a waterproof Cache Info Sheet for a recent cache on a Sunday morning when all the Office Supply stores were closed, I came up with this:

Print out whatever sheet you want on regular paper. Then place it carefully in a warm, dry and well-ventilated area on top of some newspaper layed out flat. Lightly spray clear acrylic paint on one side of the paper. Don't oversaturate the paper and only do one side. It should dry in about 5 to 10 minutes because of the surface area of the porous paper and because the paper absorbs the plastic. When it's dry to the touch, flip the paper over and spray the other side.

One coat has done the trick for me so far. Two coats and you've created a composite plastic laminated material with a paper core that is a close cousin to the materials used in the skin of the B2 Stealth Bomber!

I've already got a driver's license with my photo on it. It's served me just fine during a couple of law enforcement encounters while caching. Besides, what with having my frisbee license and my orienteering ID card, there's very little room left in my wallet.

Seriously... a friendly smile and calm demeanor will get you a lot further with a police officer than an ID card. All of my law enforcement encounters have been pleasant. I've had a cop help our group find a well-hidden microcache at 1:30 a.m., and a rural deputy escort our car to a legal parking spot on public property when we were accessing public land from private property by mistake.

It's normal for a new geocacher to feel like they're "doing something wrong" when searching for a cache. You're not. If you behave like you are, you are more likely to attract suspicion. If you stride right up to the cache, people are less likely to notice you. If they should, and the police show up, just be cool.

I have a few law enforcmant encounters while cache, onse you tell them what you are doing they are just going to say something like "You guys are nuts" and that is the end of it. As least that is what they have said to me when they have seen me out at night in the rain crawling in the mud. :)
