Kokopelli2
Is there a list somewhere of the terminology used in geocaching? I'm looking at my first cache and it says that "you can almost drive to it but it is NALP!" I don't guess that is exactly vital to the find but I'd like to know some of the basic lingo. Thanks Quote Link to comment

+Kai Team
NALP is a new one for me - Nomade's guess is as good as any. There are several good sources for geocaching acronyms and terms: Prime Suspect's Geolex Markwell's Updated FAQ Geocaching.com Glossary Quote Link to comment
+welch
Caching Terms, what say ye? How about not talking like a pirate? Never heard of NALP. Quote Link to comment

+Jamie Z
I'm not even new, and I had a strange one the other day: TFTG. Still don't know what that means, although I don't really pay attention to abbreviations like that anyway. I'd rather the person at least type out "thanks" if they want to say it. +Team Red Oak
Maybe he had his dates mixed up. Talk Like a Pirate day is Sept 19th: http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html I've never heard of Talk Like the Amish Day, but it could be coming soon. To keep on topic, the lists posted earlier with abbreviations were helpful when we first started caching. Every now and then someone makes one up that we have no clue what it means. We prefer to actually spell out our thanks and the only abbreviation we use is TNLNSL or whichever applies to what we did. Quote Link to comment
+Jamie Z
I'd go with Tanks For The Geocache That's probably too easy. Jamie Quote Link to comment
Mr. TSP
I'm not even new, and I had a strange one the other day: TFTG. After I attend this event, Tell Me a Story, I'm going to leave TFTG in my log: Thanks for the GUINNESS! Quote Link to comment
+fishingdude720
This was at my cache no clue what it is. September 27 by The Nut Crackers (51 found) This was our first of five finds for the day. Nice C&D. Since we were there on a Tuesday morning there was nobody around at that location. The container wasn't really covered well and the GC logo was visible from a good distance. I tried to hide it a bit better, at least by having the logo facing away from the direction we approached. Thanks for the cache! SL. LNTN. The Nut Crackers [view this log on a separate page] I think that it means Nice Cache & Decoration?? Anyone know Quote Link to comment
+Thrak
Caching Terms, what say ye? How about not talking like a pirate? He could be Amish. I can't imagine the Amish using an electronic device such as a GPSr........ Quote Link to comment
Kokopelli2
I'm not sure that I'm supposed to post to my own post but here goes: I found the cache today Tah Dah!!!! and it was quite exciting! Someone said that NALP means "not a lamp post" which would make perfectly good sense in this case. I checked out a couple of lamp posts before I found the hiding place. This is fun! +fishingdude720
Hey Thanks! I cannot beleive I couldn't figure that out. You know what would be cool, the having a kudos system like on MySpace. You can give people points if you like your caches or do something for you. That would be cool! Thanks! Quote Link to comment
