+daytribe
In recent months I have been playing with/learning to use Linux. I have just about decided on Suse as my favourite flavour and I have had this running on a PC for a while now. (I haven't completely got rid of my microsoft PC yet). I was wondering whether anyway else uses Linux and what software options are available for viewing gpx files etc. Quote Link to comment
+Moote
Well I have used LINUX for years and not really found anything for GeoCaching that runs on LINUX suitable, you could try using WINE to run the Windows software but I think you will have limited success, my suggestion would be to have either 2 PC's or a Duel boot PC. +slimey
I've got gpsbabel and convertcm on my linux laptop which works for basic gpx manipulation, but for more clever stuff I'm now running WinXP under vmware so I can use gsak and memory map, etc. I tried gsak and memory map under wine, and neither worked. +Moote
Emmmmmm me thinks here, there must be loads of us Techies out here, should we not setup a GeoCaching GNU prodject? Anyone in one this? Milton (aka Moote) Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
I'd work on a web based GSAK clone - it would then work from any OS with a modern browser, or via mobile phone / PDA with a trimmed user interface.... Quote Link to comment
+daytribe
I'm not familiar with Wine, WinXP and vmware so I'm going to go off and investigate. Thanks for your input. Quote Link to comment

+NomadVW
You could see what you can do with http://www.gpsvisualizer.com It doesn't have the databasing of GSAK, but it's a web based interface to the maps/gpsbabel Quote Link to comment
JackiePenn
Well I have used LINUX for years and not really found anything for GeoCaching that runs on LINUX suitable The GPS / NAVIGATION software situation for Apple OSX users is even more dire than that of pure bred nix boxes.
