  1. oh a double topic posting from me without any content, Groundspeak was throwing a wobbly and returned an error so didn't think anything had posted. Anyhow, the original post was meant to read... On reflection I do not want to spend $$$ anymore so may just go back to a basic unit like I started out with (GARMIN12), it has at least the maidenhead locator system and I still have the data and power cable. And there is the remote possibility of getting a replacement LCD screen for the Meridian.
  2. Result, my bug appears to have been rescued by a firefighter no less. Whoop! Thank you so much station#9lfd whom ever you may be and to people whom posted on thread and helped otherwise.
  3. Is that still going on? And wasn't 1 or 2 of my caches in the middle of it? I seem to remember logs to that effect between parties concerned, in which case the responsible party is revealed in them.
  4. ok thankyou - it clear that is what she/he has done then. I 'll ramp up the pressure on them in near future.
  5. Hello, please consider... TB1CY2T What's occurring with that bug current location? An Error Has Occurred Sorry, you cannot view this cache listing until it has been published. "You are not logged in. You must be logged in to view this content." > I am logged in and paid member. Does it mean it been placed in cache that has yet to go live? bambooprincess does not communicate.
  6. Okay cheers. Just wanted to embed a homemade video clip (so no copyright issues) of the cache surrounding area as an enticer to a would be visitor rather than a crucial element to the cache (i.e clue). A link to a video file on my web host will have to suffice I guess. It is a bit antiquated not being able to have in-line video capabilities of some flavour within a description page.
  7. Is there any way possible to embed an inline youtube movie object within a cache description?
  8. Pencil was missing for some of the last few at least. Possible that one or two older *missing* logs may have got faded and over written *shrug*. An outer Piece of log sheet might be missing because it was water damaged etc etc Not my cache.
  9. Log represented here: Saved GCNFBG Micro logbook Log book was in dire state, yet I was able to capture and translate every log present. Some online visitor logs are not present in real log signings for whatever reason that maybe.
  10. No idea on the 87 myself, not researched it. Non WAAS birds as far as I recall have been double digits todate, so I had assumed that Garmin had issues where it foreseen a requirement that WAAS/EGNOS bird ID's had to remain in double digits instead of using the 'proper' 3 digits PRN numbers. Software or hardware issues *guess*.
  11. ? nah it is not a bearing. It is actually the PRN number (unique ‘Pseudo Random Noise’ code), it is equivalent to the Space Vehicle Identification (SV ID) number of the satellite. Subtract 87 from the PRN number you get the ID numbers garmin use . e.g 120 - 87 = 33 PRN 120 = GARMIN 33
  12. Read your good news before. Did you have to prove original ownership/purchase by way of a receipt?
  13. Picked up a cheap IPAQ "emergency memory saver" connector for a couple of quid. Designed to have a 9 volt PP3 battery connected to save memory when battery goes flat.... I have no use for it other than wanting its pda connector. Anyway, used the donor connector to to make a Magellan Meridian to PDA data cable. Have wired it so that I can make it into a dual data/power cable for both PDA and GPS at a later date if I wish. Using stainless 0.5mm Mig welding wire I made a fine tip for the soldering iron as the pda terminals are small. The terminations also require sleeving for mechanical strengh and electrical insulation. All fits nicely back into the pda connector case. Works well. Using it as a back up.
  14. Probably a bad idea. Based on personal experience of just having today to report/log a complaint to the Police and because of anonymous , bogus and harassing phones calls made to my wife and myself by a current geocaching forum member, one of which where they made the false claim to be a representive of the Internet Service provider NTL investigating a complaint. There is also the cost and inconvenience of having a particular number changed by the provider to prevent a further influx of calls. Also the transition period between number swops where all alls are monitored by the phone service provider is unpleasant. Further content of the calls include that my details where obtained via someone here on the uk geocaching forum, I know this to be a total lie as the only people whom I have ever given such details to have been the representives of whom ever I purchased geocoins from (uk coin and english coin). The only other information in the public doman is the phone number associated with my website, the postal address used there is my proxy deliverly service in Wales, this is where the person concerned obtained any information. Obtaining my number from a "friend" of via information given to geo coin suppliers on the forum is a lie.
  15. Please test/confirm.... With the new waypoint scheme the 'Hidden' waypoint the use of which is described as "Hide this waypoint from view except by the owner or administrator" appears to get publically published in a PQ at the end of the HTML cache description (not as seperate file). If for instance the cache owner uses a 'hidden waypoint' to hold the final location of a puzzle or multi-cache, this becomes unintentionally public. Noted this happed today ... one off quirk ? UPDATED: Appears to be a one quirk on a particular cache, no worries, LOCKED.
  16. That might be the answer then, may also stop the cat licking the gargoyle.
  17. This is pretty much the method I used in passed to make a micro-rocks. I used a modified shotgun cartridge as container. My method varied in that I hard compacted the soil of the irregular hole instead of having to use a liner of polythene. That way the 'rock' surface took on some of the soil texture (and some of the soil itself for extra disguise). My mix varied as I used a basic concrete mix but included soil and moss which results in good texture and colour. This mix is represented in some gardening books for making look-a-like stone bath planters...it has a special name *?shrug?*. I only produced fist sized rocks so was able to handle them within a day and take them to a better place to set nicely. Never had much success with the yogurt or manure trick as we have tried this many times on concrete gargoyles.
