+Shasties
Boy, am I screwing up somewhere. I cannot, for the life of me, customize my signature in my profile. Yes, I am a premium member. Yes, I do enter my password to make the changes. I'm trying to add several hyperlinks in my profile to direct people to my coin collection page and a site that has a picture of our new coin. I can get the text to show up, but no matter what I do, I cannot get the text to hyperlink. It's in the form of (a href="http://www.thecachingplace.com/Cachunuts/CoinTrade/showlist.asp?type=2&owner=27") Our Coin Collection (/a) where the ( is actually < and where ) is actually >. Someone told me to use a [] in place of the <>, but that doesn't work either. Does anyone know what the heck I'm doing wrong? The link itself works OK when I paste it in the address. It looks like I'm following proper HTML programming (I think). The text will show up, it just doesn't hyperlink. Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
The forum doesn't use standard HTML tags. You have to use the URL code instead of href. Keystone
Sputnik's format is correct. The forums use UBB Code, not HTML. Quote Link to comment
+Shasties
OK, I tried writing in UBB rather than HTML and I'm still brain-dead for some reason. What I have is listed here Our Coin Collection - Our New Coin - MiGO Am I just not seeing my mistake or what? If I try posting this without the CODE brackets, it turns to hyperlinks and takes me to where I want to go, so methinks it's written OK. Just won't work as part of my profile. +Sputnik 57
Try taking out the spaces before and after the text next to the bracketed codes. UBB is pretty persnickity. Although the forum software sometimes helps you out by stripping spaces, it doesn't always work. Quote Link to comment

Not sure which forum button you're talking about? I've been making changes to my main GC profile. EDIT - If you're talking about the MENU column when I click on my name at the top of the page where it says Logged in as: Shasties (Log Out) yes this is where I go. It takes me right to my GC profile page. Edited November 23, 2005 by Shasties Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
One of the other other problems is that you're trying to put an image into your signature. Images aren't allowed. Only text and links. Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
So here's a better signature code: Our Coin Collection - MiGO Which will produce this: Our Coin Collection - MiGO Quote Link to comment

Must be it's taking a while to update the info, because my profile hasn't changed yet. As I mentioned above, when I put this coding into the body of my post, It hyperlinked everything as it should have done. Just doesn't seem to work when I insert it into my profile. I'll keep trying. Keystone
After you update your profile, are you clicking on the Forums update link so that your new information on the Geocaching server synchronizes with the separate Forum server? If you don't do that, and instead just follow a bookmark or type in the address bar to get back to the forums, you'll never see your new info. appear. The only other possibility I can see is if you are forgetting to enter your password when you update your profile. Profile changes should be instantaneous, and the forum update is likewise immediate after you pass through the synch page. Edited November 23, 2005 by Keystone Quote Link to comment

I am entering my password and it says that I've updated my information, but... As far as the 'Forums update link', I haven't done this. I assumed (my first mistake) that updating my profile carried over to the forums. I've looked for the link but have not been able to locate where it is at. Can someone point a blind guy in the right direction? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
