+Bear and Ragged Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Hi! Is there anyone that knows the maximum number of waypoints (GC****) that can be loaded to an etrex? (And is willing to reveal the answer!) IF I remove the GC part and leave the **** can I get more waypoints in (as they are no longer all stored under 'G' in the E-H section? Thanks in anticipation!
+adambro Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 (edited) Top tip: Don't put 500 waypoints on else if you're doing a multi etc you won't be able to fit any more. adambro Edited November 9, 2005 by adambro
+Bear and Ragged Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 Was thinking more like 20 to 30! Not into the paperless caching yet, too many caches in the GPS means a lot of printing! At the moment we work on 4 to 5 caches a day when we go out.

I don't put in more than 490 (unfound) these days. These leaves room for multi's and also for saving 'average' readings, (although from memory the Etrex doesn't have this facility).
alistair_uk Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 One warning. I have found that using my yellow eTrex with a large number of waypoints can confuse the nearest waypoints function and cause some to be omitted. I tend to take many readings when placing a cache over several days and can end up with dozens of pints within a few square meters so probably my fault.
+Alibags Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 The Etrex Vista C does have averaging, The Venture doesn't... don't know about the others! I like the idea of Alistair ending up with dozens of pints within a few square metres, LOL. He'll end up seeing lots of caches after that lot!
