+scorpionkill Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 No, replies, I guess the answer is NO! Quote
+wildlifewriter Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Did you try selecting a different tone, to see if it's easier to hear? There's a choice of ten, and you can assign different tones to different features. -Wlw. Quote
+Olar Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 The beeps on this thing can barley be heard, Any way to crank this puppy up? My 76C is the same even with the loudest tone being used. I have to close the windows and turn off the radio if I really must hear the upcoming turn warning. Gotta get me one of the units with external speakers and talks to you. Olar Quote
Neo_Geo Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) Is The Neway Increase "Neway" is a cute thing to put on a license plate or a clever thing to say in an instant message, but I think it makes things hard to read in the forum. You saved a millisecond by not having to type that 6th character, but you cost me about 5 or 6 seconds of MY life making me stop and think "what the F... is a "neway"? Multiply those seconds by however many other people here had to stop and wonder too - 100 people = 8 minutes, 200 people = 16 minutes... just to save yourelf a fraction of a second. If you're going to ask a question, and expect us to take our time to reply to you, I think it would be polite and respectful to actually spell things out properly for us. It just looks like a typo that I have to try to figure out what you misspelled - looks like "new way" to me, but then that doesn't make grammatical sense. So then I had to think harder about what you're trying to convey and then it dawned on me that your typo was actually intentional. I'm sure you didn't intend to make things harder for us, but just try to understand that that is the effect such things have here. ...Just my 2¢ Having said that, you might be able to rig some kind of amplifier some how using a hands-free cell phone speaker amplifier system. I think I saw something on TV something that attaches to the phone receiver and plays through an FM radio frequency on your stereo. Or you might be able to do something with THIS THING and a suction cup microphone. I have NOT tried this, so I'm not sure how or even IF it works - just tossing an idea out there for you to run with. Hope it helps... Edited October 21, 2005 by Neo_Geo Quote
+scorpionkill Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 Look, I would have typed any way out if I could have fit everything I was trying to convey in the alloted space. Jeez! Quote
Neo_Geo Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 When starting a thread, you have a 2nd line called "Topic Description" which effectively doubles the amount of space for your subject title. Quote
+DJ the Not So Ordinary Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 (edited) Neo_Geo, I had to laugh out loud at your post. Just the other day I was telling my boss that I could not decode half of the internet shorthand language that my clients send via email and that it was actually costing me productivity time trying to. You did a good job showing how it is actually counter productive to being efficient. To me, when I see someone type like that, I immediately think they are one of the following: a. Not particularly bright; or b. Not capable of using the English correctly, so they change it. This type of discussion reminds me of the debate about ebonics a few years ago. Now we are faced with the same type of debate in written form with this new fad of shortening words to ridiculous "ebonic" style of writing. DJ Edited October 23, 2005 by djnso Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 (edited) The beeps on this thing can barley be heard, Any way to crank this puppy up? Amen to that. I can only hear two of their tones while driving. They are simply the same frequency, just different lengths. Apparently you have to be a perfect human specimen to use their product (or a dog). Edit: I didn't read the previous responses until now. I guess if you are are an assbag you don't have to be on topic. Edited October 24, 2005 by BlueDeuce Quote

Neo_Geo Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 (edited) N + E = ANY [both sound like "innie"] - saves a whole keystroke! neway = anyway nebody = anybody ne1 = anyone netime = any time Ebonics... Don't get me goin' on that one! Use "rectum" and "boat" in a sentence: I had two cars, but I rectum boat. Edited October 24, 2005 by Neo_Geo Quote

+Hemlock Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Back on topic, please. I fixed the topic title. And watch the language in the future, BlueDeuce and Neo_Geo. Quote
peter Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 No, replies, I guess the answer is NO! Yes, I believe that's correct. The only thing I know of is to pick a different sound that might be a bit more audible, but I don't think there's any volume control. When using the routing in a noisy environment it's good to sometimes glance at the data field that gives the distance to the next turn so you'll know when to expect the turn announcement. Quote

I guess you should've read the previous responses then. Sometimes that helps. Edited October 24, 2005 by Neo_Geo Quote
