  1. Looks like the Georgia idiots at least got people interested in Bigfoot.
  2. It is inspired by the Blair Witch Project and The last Broadcast. 7/14 We reshot the final scene last night and think that the new ending is much better. We may reshoot a few more scenes (tweaking them) to make the story flow a bit better. Can't wait to edit this now and get the cache details ironed out.

  4. Great video. There will be some things that will set it apart from this. Our video will be shot in HD and the quality of the footage will be very good. Not that you will hear it on the portable DVD players but it will also be in 5.1 surround sound. Ours will also be horror themed. Thanks for pointing out this cache. Looks neat.
  5. Hi Everyone! I just wanted to update you all on the progress with our cache/movie. We have began shooting the final scenes for the movie and hope to have it ready by the end of the summer. We have added some quick sample test footage to the pre-trailer. We think it gives you a better idea of what the final movie/cache will be like. For those of you unfamiliar with our project here is a brief description of what it will be. "We will be filming a short movie about two men who go missing while out searching for bigfoot. The movie will be filmed in conjuction with the placing of a geocache (www.geocaching.com) of the same name. The geocache will be a night geocache where seekers must only seek the cache at night. Once established seekers will be sent to a set of GPS coordinates (the destroyed campsite in the movie) and they will need to search for a DVD left behind by the two missing men. Using a portable DVD player they will watch the footage and learn what the men have encountered and clues to the location of the next video. After completing all the stages of the geocache the seekers will learn of the fate of the two missing men and be in for a scare of their own. Here is the link for the video. I will try to load it directly here if I can. http://www.vimeo.com/1302662
  6. Loaded cachemate onto the palmm500 I got off of ebay. Ran a query on www.geocaching.com and uploaded it to GSAK. From GSAK sent it over to cachemate. The caches are there but the cahe descriptions (the details) and the logs do not show up. The basics (coordinates, owner, ..etc) show up. A year ago I loaded this onto another m500 that I had and verything worked. Anyone know what might be going on?
  7. Update: This past weekend we scouted locations for filming as well as the cache itself. We recreated a trashed camp site scene and took photos and video for the web and the movie. Filming should begin next weekend as long as the camera crane arrives on time. Hopefully we get a variety of weather conditions to convey different times, different dates. Still have quite a bit of pre-production stuff to finish but things are on schedule.
  8. 2) Stop the personal attacks (calling people loser's, etc.). If they don't agree, so be it. The only thing you will accomplish is to either get suspended from posting, or have this thread locked by a moderator Yeah. I just got so heated that I lost it. I find it ironic that somone stresses having experience in a subject and then criticizes something they have no experience in (the movie). This seemed pretty simple to me. You would either seek it or not.
  9. And the feel of the movie is what I adressed - as demonstrated it does not have a feel. It's just text and fuzzy images. Now thats a nonsensical statement - "I'll take criticism, so long as you don't actually criticize". Ah no, You don't get it. Someone bring up a valid point and I except it well. I will consider the point and make adjustments as necessary. Again, you stated planely that you would not seek this cache. That is fine with me. You gave me your reason and I moved on. But you feel the need to continually bash what I have said or plan on doing despite hearing my accomodations to peoples concerns. Honestly I think it is out of fear and that is OK. Some people are scared of the woods at night. Wouldn't suprise me if you still sleep with a night light and or your teddy. Then why are the majority of the images given as demonstration of the feel blurry and out of focus? YouTube videos need not be so. Quickly made videos need not be so. I can (and have) made clearer videos with my (low end) camera and no processing at all. OK Mr. Spielberg. Have you ever watched a horror movie or for that matter have you actually ever seen the Blair Witch Project? My money is that you haven't. Well that movie was either blury, dark or shakey and it made MILLIONS of dollars. See trailer here . Hmm seems to me the trailer is blury, dark, shakey and full of text and that was after the movie was shot. I could give example after example of movies that were blured, shakey...etc. The word is rendered and I would wipe the floor with you in making movies. So you obviously have zero expertice in this area so please stick to what you do know. If you don't want replies that you might not like, don't post. Once you release a post 'into the wild', you no longer control what happens to it. Dude. Again. You don't plan to seek this cache so move on. Hit the bricks. Find some other thread.
  10. You may dispense with the personal attacks and name calling. I will also point out that this is what I meant by education and experience - if you cannot handle the mild criticism in this thread to date, what are you going to do when it shows up in your logs? And on such a complicated cache it will show up. You specifically stated that the video would "give you all an idea of the feel of the movie" - and I took you at your word. If you did not intend for the video to be viewed as an exemplar of the style of the finished movie, you should have not specifically stated that you intended for it to be seen as such. Keep this in mind when you write your cache pages. Idea of the feel, not here is the movie. I have taken everyones criticizm well except yours sice all you seem to do is offer nothing but criticizim. Shouldn't you have experience in something before you criticize sice you seem to not posses the technical knowledge of how a movie is made. I find it funny how someone with such little experience himself contines to harp on experience. Let's look at the caches you have placed shall we? This movie will be recorded in 1080i HD so it will be anything but blurry and out of focus. True some creative enhancement will be done to set a mood . Since you don't live local to this cache and don't plan to seek it why don't you go find another thread and offer your 2 cents. Seems to me you get your kicks off of being a troll.
  11. If this is how you feel then why post asking if we'd look for it. SOMEONE would, and if it's only 10 people I wonder if those 10 people would really be on here to reply. Set it up and post it and see who shows up. (It sounds like a re-enactment of Blair Witch Project to me) while similar to the BW it will be a story on it's own. Now I know how the directors of BW felt when people said. Sounds like a re-enactment of the last broadcast.
  12. The movie will be a fuzzy and/or poorly focused clone of the Blair Witch Project and consist mostly of text and credits? First of all tweedle Dee (whom you look like) that was a quick youtube upload and if you knew anything you would understand that the quality you are viewing is not what the fully rendered dvd version will be like. As there has not been any footage shot minus a few test shots, a fact I already mentioned, the clip you saw was test frames. So before you continue to criticize me from you soap box you should learn about how you make a movie you jackass. Glad you won't seek this cache. Stick to your film canister traditionals....loser.
  13. Thanks. The movie will be recorded in 5.1 surround sound and include sounds just like that. I wanted to do a quick edit using some shots of potential filming areas and test footage to give you all an idea of the feel of the movie. Once we actually film we will have more material to create a real trailer that will really set the mood. We will also be creating a website to tell the backstory (information that will not be in the films) Seekers will need to be aware of this site for clues. Which video editing program do you use? Video caches truly raise the creativity bar. MY friend's cache Any Gun Can Play became an instant hit. Right now I am using Cyberlink Powerdirector and Sony vegas. Looking to move to Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 11

  15. Here is a quick edit of a teaser trailer for the cache..just to set the idea
  16. You don't see how having experience with something is helpful in doing that something? Nobody is debating your capability to understand what makes up a good cache - what is questioned is whether you have the experience to understand what makes up a good cache and the problems inherent in maintaining a cache. These are two totally different issues. I have the experience in understanding what makes up a good cache. I am pretty selective with the caches I go for. You yourself only have less than 80 finds and only one multi cache so do you have the experience to doubt me? Seems to me you like the easy ones. I highly enjoy multi and mystery caches and have almost switched entirely to only seeking this type of cache. Sorry to break this to you but geocaching isn't exactly rocket science. Like another poster said some people think hiding a film canister under a lamp post is an worthwile cache. I call it a giant waste of time and energy. Caches to me should either take you to a great location or challenge/entertain you. I am well aware of possible maintance issues and I will test out the procedure before going live with the cache. I will make adjustments as neccesary.
  17. Thank you for your input on this cache. I will update this thread with progress on the creation of the cache. Footage will be shot over the first two weekends in June and it should take roughly a week to edit and burn the disks. Stay Tuned. I will provide stills of the video in this thread.
  18. LOL. I hear you on this. The movie will set the mood and the location will do the rest. No need for a live actor.
  19. I will maintain this cache bi-weekly during the warm weather months and monthly during the winter. I will provide new DVD copies if any go missing or get damaged. The containers will not be cheap tupperware but rather more expensive weather resistant containers. DVD's will be kept within a jewel case enclosed within a freezerbag. The cache will be local to my home and accessible by me 24/7
  20. Ouch. This does not sound like a good idea - this will be a very high maintenance cache as specialized items in the cache have a fairly good chance of taking a walk (accidentally left in player) requiring regular replacement. Not to mention the near certainty of damage to the DVD from dirt/dust/handling etc... On the whole, I don't think I'd do this cache. Portable DVD players are getting cheap - but not cheap enough to risk losing/damaging in the woods and decidedly not cheap enough to risk damaging because one of the 'several' DVD's are damp and/or dirty. Equally, I don't find reassurances that this will be a cache for the ages from someone with so few finds, no hides at all, and such a large chip to be very reassuring. You are more than certainly entitled to your opinion. I don't see how finding a great number of caches has anything to do with being able to place a very effective and fun one on the first try. While I may have few finds compared to many of you I am more than capable of understanding what makes up a good cache. I have found basic grab and go caches as well as puzzle caches that made you think. To be honest with you there are so many caches out there that seem to have been placed for the sole purpose of placing a cache. These caches are far from elaborate and some of them are down right boring. I have other hobbies as well so all of my free time is not dedicated to geocaching like some people on this site. I have experience in other areas that make me more than confident that I can pull this cache off and those who find it will regard it as one of the best they have ever done. I have put alot of preliminary work into this cache and I can assure you this will work. I beleive in Quality over Quantity and to me there are so many bland caches out there that cause new cachers to quickly loose interest in geocaching.
  21. I did a little reading on Wherigo this morning. I will keep an eye on it for possible use in this cache. The blair Witch project is an inspiration for this cache. I will be similar type movie but based on bigfoot.
  22. Well for this cache the idea of the movie is to find several DVD's not just one. I wouldn't want you to see the whole movie up front.
  23. I misread a reply and got a little perturbed. That's my fault.
  24. OK. First off I don't recall ever stating that this was for my enjoyment. The enjoyment would be in seeking the cache. Also I never said you had to go out and buy a portable DVD player, if you happened to have one you could find this cache if not then you don't go looking for it. Simple as that. Is there a rule that states that caches have to be accesible by all geocachers? I don't think so. I am not offended if you don't own a portable DVD player and thus don't find this cache. For those that DO have a portable DVD player then this will be an exciting cache for YOU if you are willing to take it in the woods with you. To whom ever said that this cache can't be done succesfully without first placing a more simple cahe. Do you think that one only becomes aware of waterproof containers by placing geocaches? I can assure you that I can place this cache (yes my first cache) sucessfully the first time. Geocaching does not require a dedicated degree. Was going to reply to this, but Lotho did it for me. And to expound upon that... Why should I spend my money, any amount of my money, to buy a piece of equipment I would only use to find to go find one cache, when the owner could have done the cache differently or paid for the equipment out or their pocket without changing my experience at the cache? And I'm not taking my laptop, which is my portable DVD player, into the woods in the dark. Not unless you insure it for me.
  25. Again. If you don't have a portable DVD player then you simply don't go for this cache. I have seen so many caches that seem to be simply designed to bump up finder numbers. These caces are plain and downright boring. I will provide a cache that will be rememberable, one that finders will talk about when they reflect on their best caching moments. If only 10 people find it in it's life then so be it. This cache is not about numbers and more about an exhilirating experience.
